Default "Kabhi Kabhie" (1976)

Kabhie Kabhie Blu-ray

apparently this Bollywwod classic from 1976 got released on blu-ray in December of last year.
this film is listed on this site, but is erroneously shown as being made in 2009.
There doesn't appear to be a previous release thread.
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0030QTA16
anybody have this release or know anything about this film?

I shared an office with an Indian (subcontinent) national who claimed that this was the "greatest film of all-time."

I've never seen it.

Ive seen about 80 Bollywoods, and have the BD of Kabhi Kabhie.

Its interesting historically but if you are not into these films I would definitely not recommend it.

If you want a great historical Bollywood check out the "Jewel Thief", more entertaining and 1960's bee-hive hairstyles + hindi music = fantastic.

Don't believe the hype.It was one of the first mainstream big-budget Indian films to deal with the subject of extra-marital affairs. Also the three stars playing husband, wife and "other woman" allegedly played the same roles in real life, which mad it more interesting for Indian audiences. The film has some decent performances but
[Show spoiler]chickens out of its theme at the end by having the extra-marital lovers go back to their families after deciding that their relationship is improper

Oops
Well, it's not a mystery film. And in an Indian context, nobody would have expected or at that time accepted any other conclusion. Will mark it as spoiler now, sorry.

Good God, it finally dawns on me. Guess which film's synopsis I actually gave out in my previous post?
If you like Amitabh Bachchan and don't mind watching films on DVD, I highly recommend you try this film called Kaala Patthar. It loosely adapts Conrad's Lord Jim into an ensemble story set in an Indian coal mining town. A great classic of Indian cinema and one of Bachchan's best performances IMO.

Yep the above synopsis was for the movie 'Silsila' not Kabhi Kabhie.
Although both movies were produced and directed by Yash Chopra.

Kabhi Kabhie is the better film.

On the acting front Amitabh Bachchan rules in both films, as usual*

I sure wish there was more discussion of Bollywood films on these forums. They are a guilty pleasure of mine.

Without a doubt, the greatest Bollywood movie ever is SHOLAY. They just re-released it in 3D (& IMAX) in India after several years spent on the conversion. I wish they would release here in the Cinema. Can't to get hold of it on Blu-Ray.
