I'm a newbie so how can I do an avatar??

Try using the User Control panel to edit your profile...

Click on the upper left link "User CP". Once you're there, click on "Edit Avatar" and follow the instructions there.

Thanks.........I tried to change the avatar before I finalized my registration and it works now.
