Spent my sunday afternoon in Stereo Exchange with some vinyl/audiophile buds, had my camera with me.

We started off with the Sooloos wireless system, hooked up to Meridian's DSP8000. Are you sitting down? Good. The DSP8000 is $65,000. Next to the DSP8000 is the Sonus Faber Amatis, a relative bargain at $30,000. Didn't listen to those, but I know 'em well. I like Meridian sources better than their speakers. The Sooloos system is great, intuitive and easy to use, but it is expensive. A plethora of McIntosh gear on the rack. I think there is over half a million dollars in this room alone.

The DSP8000 are self powered. The Sooloos was hooked up directly to the DSP8000. It sounded fantastic. $65K fantastic? Well, everything is subjective.

From the super expensive to the affordable. Pro-ject's latest turntable was great. It's only $150 more than the debut 3.

Cosmos setting up the gyrodec. Quad speakers, Audio Research amplification with a lehmann phono stage.

A must in any audition

The Michell Orbe turntable. Incredible deck. Listened to some Cat Power on them with Vienna Acoustic The Music speakers. Loved it.

Sonus Faber Stradivaris - $45,000. Breathtaking!!! The room was a little live with the wood floors, but still sounded good.

Audiophiles that aren't 80 yrs old. Yeah, we exist.

Speakers being discounted heavily.

I love the equipment on this thread. Even though I would never be able to afford anything shown, I would like to be able to hear what great audio equipment sounds like.

This started me thinking.

I would like to take a 2 or 3 day vacation and stop by one or two of the best high-end audio stores in the country that have equipment as shown in this thread and spend sometime in the stores doing nothing but listening to great equipment.

Could you name a store or two that it would be possible for me to stop by to experience the finest in audio??

The closest, large metropolitan City to you is bound to have a few hifi dealers.

My wife and I are supposed to go to NYC at least once this year (we try to go twice). Where are these places you visited? We usually stay around mid-town.

theres a stereo shop in my town that has an almost identical mcintosh setup as one of these pics with sonus faber speakers, the guy there was telling me about the "entry level" options, i didnt even bother asking what price entry level would be in these brands

It's a great album. I have at least 10 different copies in various formats. Vinyl gets the most play though.

Oh, sorry about that. It wasn't that clear plus I am only 172 posts from becoming a Guru and I have noticed that I am starting to do dumb posts to get another notch towards perfection, a Guru.
