Default 1080p/24p - Video through receiver

Hey guys!

I was checking out some of the new 3d receivers coming out and I see that the big feature is that the 3d signal can get passed through the unit.

That got me to wondering about 1080p/24p. I never really looked into it before.

I purchased a KURO late last year and understand that it supports that output. The question is how do I know if my Denon does?

I also got to wondering if I am losing picture quality when passing the video through that device.

Now obviously I could just hook my PS3 or whatever else straight up to the KURO however the problem with that idea is that is I am not sure how to pass the sound through the PS3 to the receiver via HDMI.

Anyways just thought I would enquire to see if any of you knew the answer. I searched my manual and it only specifies 1080p. I did some searching on google and found that some receivers can effect black levels etc.

It has really started to get me worried!

Yes that receiver supports 24p.

I think the reason it is being advertised so hard is because of the 3D. Since it has already be stated that if we hook up a 3D Blu-ray player to a 1.3 receiver and then to a 3D TV we will loose the 3D signal because of the one device that is not 3D ready.

Great! I was looking on the Canada site and didn't notice a nice chart like that.

That makes me feel a little bit better.

I guess another question would be if passing video through receiver is a good idea? Am I getting worse video for a 1080p output?

Any thoughts?

You are getting the same picture by passing through.
