Jayam Ravi's Peranmai is now available for sale on Ayngaran's website. Anyone watch this movie before? Is it a good blind buy?

The film revolves around is a tribal forest guard who works for the welfare of his tribe and spreading education among them. Whilst, on a team bonding mission with five college girls, whom initially mistreat him due to his caste, they stumble on a group of foreign mercenaries who are planning to stop India’s scientific progress by destroying a rocket launch by using missiles. How the team bonds together and defeat the potential threat forms the crux of the story.

VIDEO:
Yet another outstanding release from the Ayngaran stable. The blu-ray transfer is near-perfect with plenty of depth and detail. There is no evidence of DNR or edge enhancement. The black levels are pretty impressive. This is indeed quite a flawless release. Kudos to Ayngaran and Sunny.

AUDIO:
This disc boasts both the LPCM 5.1 uncompressed audio and DTS HD Master Audio. This disc features belly churning bass, makes very good use of the rear speakers and the HFs are not overly done. The dialogues are very crisp and clear.

BOTTOM LINE
This disc is not for everyone, decent flick, A+ disc. However, Jeyam Ravi fans will not be disappointed. This disc comes RECOMMENDED

Movie: 12/20
Video: 17/20.
Audio: 19/20

Default Average movie

The movie cant be described as a must watch.

It has a good patriotic story line, but certain scenes are over done.
It has bad fight scenes and bad usage of hollywood villains.

Overall score can be 6/10

The PQ & AQ are outstanding as usual. I skimmed the disc and didn't see anything that was amazing that made me want to sti down and watch it. Maybe one day that I am really bored.

The Peranmai Blu-ray is the only BD from Ayngaran that I don't own to-date. I had absolutely no doubt that it was gonna be a fabulous release, with Sunny at the helm of things and with the Ayngaran logo of reliability to back it up. The only problem is exactly what you mentioned - the movie might not have a "repeat viewing" value for some people like me. I watched the movie when it came out on DVD, and though it was a decent movie (I appreciated the movie, in fact), I knew right away that it wasn't one that would keep me coming back for second helpings. That is the only thing IMHO that would potentially hurt the sales of this BD. My next buy from Ayngaran would certainly be the Kandukondain Kandukondain Blu-ray. I'll give their HD Isai Thendral a pass too, as I already own most of the songs on that collection from their respective movie BDs..

Don't understand the recent trend of Ayngaran. They seem to be featuring 16-bit LPCM and 16-bit DTS-HD MA which ain't going to add value.

Would be better if they feature 24-bit LPCM or 24-bit DTS-HD MA audio track.

I can't believe they released this on Blu Ray - it was so boring. The hope still leaves on that if they can release this then one day they will release Bheema on Blu ray
