Here's a little chart based on the sales of 300 and the proportions.
Now I know films like Wild hogs may not sell as well in relation to domestic box office as 300 did on Blu-ray, but also because Spider-man 3 will only be on Blu-ray the ration per box office may be higher. This is based on first week's sales of "300" $210,615,000 into 163,000 Blu-ray discs and 87,000 HD DVD discs. (Blu-ray = Box office / 1292) (HD DVD = Box office / 2420) Code:
Rank Studio Box Office Movie Title 1 Sony $336,436,184 Spider-Man 3 2 P/DW $321,012,359 Shrek the Third 3 BV $307,592,347 Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End 4 P/DW $304,126,202 Transformers 5 WB $274,339,341 Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix 6 WB $210,614,939 300 7 BV $194,544,393 Ratatouille 8 BV $168,273,550 Wild Hogs 9 Fox $157,004,541 The Simpsons Movie 10 Uni. $146,966,050 Knocked Up 11 Uni. $141,614,610 The Bourne Ultimatum 12 Fox $132,163,563 Live Free or Die Hard 13 Fox $130,884,683 Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer 14 P/DW $118,245,842 Blades of Glory 15 WB $116,397,579 Ocean's Thirteen 16 Sony $115,802,596 Ghost Rider 17 Uni. $106,114,285 I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry 18 Uni. $98,035,630 Evan Almighty 19 BV $97,690,955 Meet the Robinsons 20 P/DW $95,360,247 Norbit 21 NL $95,295,000 Hairspray (2007) 22 BV $82,272,442 Bridge to Terabithia 23 P/DW $80,106,701 Disturbia 24 MGM/W $70,957,514 1408 25 NL $62,635,000 Rush Hour 3 26 SGem $61,356,221 Stomp the Yard 27 Sony $58,365,173 Surf's Up 28 WB $54,149,098 TMNT 29 WB $50,572,589 Music and Lyrics 30 SonR $49,631,958 Are We Done Yet? 31 Sony $47,852,604 Premonition 32 Par. $47,003,581 Shooter 33 WB $42,933,148 License to Wed 34 Uni. $42,674,040 Because I Said So 35 Fox $39,739,367 Epic Movie 36 NL $39,015,018 Fracture 37 Par. $36,605,602 Freedom Writers 38 Uni. $35,662,731 Smokin' Aces 39 SGem $35,374,833 The Messengers 40 NL $35,193,167 The Number 23 41 WB $33,617,442 No Reservations 42 Par. $33,080,083 Zodiac 43 Uni. $33,000,880 Breach 44 LGF $31,366,978 Tyler Perry's Daddy's Little Girls 45 FoxA $28,637,507 28 Weeks Later 46 MGM $28,484,911 Mr. Brooks 47 MGM/W $27,669,725 Hannibal Rising 48 BV $27,205,166 Underdog 49 WB $25,414,909 Nancy Drew 50 WB $25,126,214 The Reaping HD DVD - $2,676,246,707 = 1,105,887 discs in first week sales That's about a 3:1 ratio, so I think that's the absolute MINIMUM we can expect through Q4/07 as no doubt Pirates, Spidey, etc., will see well for several weeks. ![]() Last edited by dobyblue; 08-16-2007 at 09:15 PM. |
