Default Do you purchase online or offline or both?

I'm curious to see were people buy their media.

I personally buy from local retailers even if I could get it cheaper online because my some of the money from my purchases end up circulating in the local economy creating more jobs.

Still somewhat new to BR so my entire collection of 2 BR discs were purchased at Best Buy. But I just discovered Newegg sells BR discs, most at decent prices below brick & mortar prices, and best of all shipping is free. I always receive my Newegg orders the next day providing I order before noon PT so it looks like they will be my new source.

I have bought a lot of both. When I first started buying most of my purchases came from Best Buy. I found however how much cheaper Amazon.com was as well as how much I hate Best Buy, now have me buying mainly online. Especially now when buying 15-20 BD's a month, saving $7 a disc ends up being a lot.

However for some blockbuster and favorite movie releases(The Departed, Casino Royale, 300, etc..) I will buy them at Walmart. I use Walmart because they are cheaper than any other retailer and more importantly because they are a 24 hour store I can pick up those new releases at midnight of the release day rather than waiting until 10am the next day.

One of the reasons why I shy away from online is because couriers deliver during the day when I'm at work and that means I end up having to go to the depot near the airport.

I always calculate total cost with taxes and shipping. Then I pick the the lowest one. Which usually means if the thing(s) I am gonna buy is greater than $25, I buy from amazon or buy.com cause of free shipping without taxes. I also look for free shipping on newegg.

Unless of course I am worried about having to return it, then I usually get it from Costco or some other brick and mortar.

My only concern with online is I might stack too much up on my credit card, and then I won't be able to pay it in full come billing time. But that has never happened, hopefully never will.

Hopefully, you don't work in an industry with online only competition versus your employer being brick and mortar.

Why not give your work address as the shipping address? I do it all of the time. Just let the reception/receiving/mail personel know that you are expecting a package. The only time I had trouble with this approach was with Columbia House. The good news is that the two shipments that had to be re-shipped ended up getting me an extra $60 off plus 2 more DVDs at 50% off!
