Potential future HD technologies that will be invading store shelves within the coming years (some sooner than others, perhaps) include the likes of OLED, Laser TV (a spin-off if you will of DLP), FED and SED (although it is believed by many that SED has already been pronounced dead and a failed endeavor). Out of all of these budding choices is there one that in any aspect stands out from the crowd more?
For some reason, OLED seems to have the most striking of qualities in both picture quality and design in my opinion. |

i agree oled is the way to go with them being made from plastic your tv could be very lite wit atlest a couple million to one contrast raitio and if trhey fix the blue oled which they are at a very fast rate. then tv could be very cheap since made out of plastic laser tv will be like hd dvd a great inprovemnt over other stuff but why settle for second best?lmao but laser tv dose have major potentional if the can get them out for a lower cost compared to lcd/projection

Both laser and OLED can really be seen to have huge potential markets if properly developed and implemented.
Rear projection using lasers should be possible without a color wheel and produce true blacks, which is the contrast we are all after. As well, it could theoretically be designed to produce accurate representation of all resolutions natively - 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, and 1080p/24/60. That would be cool. Front projection with lasers could be even better if done correctly because it could be possible to get a bigger screen from a smaller package with near perfect contrast. OLED is simply the bomb. Give me something with the brightness of LCD, but with a image that rivals plasma. Make it big, but still weigh in at just a few pounds. The idea that they could fold up these displays makes field use and military use huge. Imagine being an architect and using OLED like a blueprint - just lay it out on the table and bring up an image that's big enough for all to read. Or in the military to pull out on the fly, lay it down and you see exactly where you are on the map, along with everyone else on your side. Overlay enemy combatants, etc. It could be really cool and useful as a tool. OLED seems way cooler, but also may be a ton more expensive at the end of the day. |
