Default What i'd love on the PS3

I thought i'd start a thread on extra stuff you'd like on the PS3, this isn't about moaning about how your PS3 can't do this or that just what extra little treats you'd like them to do. (Maybe we can then send it to the PS3 Blog)

What i'd like is that when you play a BD for the Blu Ray logo to come up like the PS3 one does when you select a game.

(I was sure that this has been talked about but i couldn't find it anywhere)

Multiple disc changer! I am so lazy. But I am glad they put the eject option in the last update.

Also more supported video formats like avi or mpg. And support for NTFS formatting! I mean whats up with FAT32?

Linux is what's up with FAT32.

NTFS support is very limited in Linux, so FAT32 is a more logical choice.

Well no, while the PS3 may be POWER5 based, it has loads of architectural differences with a normal PPC based processor so running OSX on the PS3 isn't viable.

Not saying you can't do it. I am sure some Mac fanboy will find a way, they always do.

There is a difference in being viable and being impossible. Example, someone loaded WinXP onto the PS3, but it was virtualised and incredibly slow. So is it possible to have Windows on your PS3, yes; is it viable, no.

I want compatibility with Yahoo Music Unlimited.

Currently it does not work for DRM'ed music. Yeah, I know DRM (IE: copy protection) is a big thing with Blu-ray and is one of the major reasons that movie studios are drawn to the format, but I pay for my subscription to Yahoo Music Unlimited. I pay for my music, and it would be nice if my PS3 and Yahoo Music Unlimited could "shake hands" and let me play my music through the PS3 and through my entertainment system. It works with my Xbox 360 but my Xbox 360 "loses" some of the files in my playlists completely randomly and it ticks me off.

i wish that when you are listening to music and you've played through an artists songs, it would jump to the next artist automatically. id like to see a controller redisgn, most notably, something to make the analog stick have more "grip" when you play games like sshd. i want to be able to use things such as p2p things like limewire.

Don't forget that Apple has now switched over to Intel X86 architecture so the new versions of OSX wouldn't be compatible with the PS3 at all

The PS3 currently supports MPEG 1,2,3 and 4 (AVC). I would like to see at least .avi support. maybe even .wmv but that may not happen

What I would like on the PS3:
  • Improved browser load times
  • Ability to create & name subfolders in the XMB to better organize
  • Ability to communicate to those on your friend list via headset or message
  • Animated backgrounds (GIFS or something)
  • Get rid of small character limit in browser
  • Background downloading on media other than the HDD
  • In game XMB
  • Compatibility with iTunes
  • A Linux designed for PS3 that supports WIFI
  • Any USB printer should work not just ESPON
  • USB scanner support

I am almost positive you have to pay Microsoft to write to NTFS. You can read freely though.

Here's what I'd like to see on the ps3:
1) Rumble with the controller. I know that sony is working on this, but the sooner it comes out, the better because sony won't have any upset fans
2) The ps3 eyetoy to be used with the psp eyetoy. The ps3 version is supposed to come out this summer. The psp, I don't know. The option was added months ago in an update. It would be cool to take the ps3 eyetoy, take a photo and then either transfer to the psp or the psp eyetoy
3) Be able to watch regular TV on your ps3
4) Have the ps3 support iPods and iPhones
5) Have ps3 games use the psp somehow
6) Have a ps3 game support up to 7 players offline
