Default Thoughts On panasonic BD players

Hi,

I own a panasonic DMP-BD601K player. I have had it for almost one year, with absolutely no problems at all. All firmware updates download and update to the player directly flawlessly via ethernet and all my discs play flawlessly.

My question is more how is panasonic's support in the long run for older models? this year they released the bd65 and 85 as upgrades from the 60 and 80 series. Now, many of the features addressed in the upgraded models are features I don't use, such as netflix and I have no need for wifi on the living room player as it's only 6 feet from the router. I was more concerned about disc support, but it appears with what I want in a blu-ray player I'm not missing much as far as features goes. My main purpose for a blu-ray player is for the discs themselves.

People seem to rave about samsung and LG eg Sony is another name i trust in products but having had a home theater in a box from panasonic for 7 years and still kicking made me appreciate their quality much more.

Anyway according to amazon, any samsung player i research seems to have tons of critical reviews of people having issues with the products and the company. Same with LG. Plus I'm new to the blu-ray upgrade since of last year so I'm still learning about the technology and products available.

Personally, I don't see a huge gap between blu-ray and DVD when they were both new. Both had compatibility issues between discs and players now in the end, all the players do essentially the same thing.

Anyway Just wanted to get some feedback. Thanks!
