It's one of the best Caped Crusader stories ever -- Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli's Batman: Year One. And now it's being turned into an animated film.

Comics Continuum reports that Warner Home Video will be producing the movie as part of its DC Universe animated feature series. The site's sources indicate that Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths co-director Sam Liu will helm the film, though the studio would not confirm at this time that the film is in development.

Year One, originally published in 1987, tells the story of Bruce Wayne's early days as Batman after he returns to Gotham City from his years of travelling and studying abroad. This story runs parallel to that of the young Jim Gordon, as the future police commissioner joins the Gotham P.D. and becomes engulfed in the corruption of the city.

The book served in part as the inspiration of Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins.

Yet, another Batman BD, but I'm not complaining!
