Judging by the specs indicated on DVD Empire's website, coupled with a phone conversation I had with Fox this morning (Pacific time), Fox will be sticking with DTS-HD as it's premium audio codec.
![]() In fact, we talked about "Edward Scissorhands", "Home of the Brave", "The Fly" (1986) and a few other Fox/MGM BD titles (in particular) that were announced earlier this week shortly after the Paramount shocker. You will also notice on DVD Empire's website that most of the 29 BD titles announced by Fox sport the "HD Master Audio" logo on the lower right corner of each piece of cover art -- the exact same one on past Fox BD covers. www.dvdempire.com So DTS fans, like myself.....I think we can relax. I'm all about the PCM, but DTSHDMA(wow that's a bunch of letters) is always my second choice...even though my home equiptment lacks the ability to fully enjoy either. Even regular ole DTS sounds better than Dolby in my personal and proffessional opinion.

Just remember that DTS-HD and DTS-HD MA is not the same thing.
Here are the rough equivalents between DTS and DOLBY: DTS-HD HIGH RESOLUTION AUDIO = DOLBY DIGITAL PLUS DTS-HD MASTER AUDIO = DOLBY TRUEHD DTS' bit rates are higher then DOLBY's that is why it is a rough equivalent. |

I don't think this is good news at all actually...
DTS-HD is still lossless and only carries something like 1.5 MB/Sec bitrate... The Night at the Museum track was awful, please Fox do PCM.... |

Please check www.dtsonline.com, click "digital cinema", then click "theatrical title search". Look under Fox, Fox Atomic and Fox Searchlight on the studio drop-down list. Jodi |

And more importantly, DTS at 1.5 (which can also be extracted by all players from a DTS-HD or DTS-HDMA track) can be output via optical or coax for those of us with pre-hdmi receivers (or no 5.1 analog outs on our player, like my PS3). |

up to 3.0 Mbps for HD DVD and up to 6.0 Mbps for Blu-ray And zealots say HD DVD is technologically superior to Blu-ray. My a**!!! |

PCM or TrueHD will be just as good. And since DTS Master is unlikely to be available standard in the affordable realm for quite some time, not the best idea to have as your only lossless codec |

I happen to like SDDS over Dolby as well. SDDS has a pretty natural sound, good bass, and is non-fatiguing physically (for me, anyway). DTS does not fatigue either. But Dolby ANYTHING (DD, the old Dolby Stereo, and DD Spectral Recording) causes me to have headaches -- cluster headaches at worst. And I have read about a number of other people over the years reporting similar physical effects. We think it's due to Dolby's accentuated high frequencies. It's pretty interesting stuff in both the medical and psychoacoustic realms. Jodi |

Is it an option for you to use Dolby Headphone for those tracks? I've had excellent results with the JVC SU-DH1 -- greatly reduces listener fatigue. Or is it that you get these effects even playing DD through external speakers? |

New players will be either decoding DTS HDMA or bypassing it to a decoding receiver. fuad |

Can't blame the Dts codec for that, the mix just wasn't that aggressive. It wasn't on the DVD either, its just wasn't a good mix IMPO
