USA 48 Hrs (1982)

Jack Cates (Nick Nolte) is a hard-nosed cop who is paired up with Reggie Hammond (Eddie Murphy) -- a convict who is released from prison in Cates's custody for 48 hours in order to help Cates track down a pair of maniacal cop killers.

NO RELEASE DATE

Hopefully Another 48 Hrs, Beverly Hills Cop, Beverly Hill Cop 2, Cape Fear, etc will soon follow

I've never seen the sequel but 48 hrs is the blueprint for the mismatched buddy cop film. Walter Hill, Nick Nolte, and Eddie Murphy at the top of their game.

I have only seen them once each, been at least 25 years niw since I saw the second one. Was alright but I never really wanted to see either one again.

48 Hrs is decent, but it's nowhere near as funny as people make it out to be. It's actually pretty dark and violent for the most part. IMO, Lethal Weapon is the better buddy cop movie model for all the knockoffs.

Another 48 Hrs was pretty bad. And the twist at the end with the Iceman made absolutely no sense. Why would a drug kingpin like that need to keep his day job? And how did he and Eddie Murphy never cross paths in the first movie?
