Default Microsoft Xbox 360 Racing Wheels overheating too

More MS hardware overheating

Add that to the consoles themselves overheating (among other problems) and cold-soldered joints in HD-DVD drive add-ons.

Here's my cooling solution for my xbox 360. It's basically a mod of the notorious Nyko Intercooler which is known for shorting out and melting on to the back of 360's.

Click

The 360 used to be hot to touch, now it's barely a tad warm after doing the mod. Haven't had a single lock up.

The 360 is pretty loud all on its own. It must sound like you've got a small lawn mower running when you got a 360 AND one of those Nyko fan thingies running at the same time.

I got lucky and got one of the quieter 360s. But yeah, the Nyko more than makes up for it. I game with headphones maybe 95% of the time so I don't wake up the household, so I don't really hear the fans. I made an attempt to replace them for something better/quieter, but they're an uncommon size and I haven't been able to find any.

In the end, noise level is a small sacrifice in taking a preventive measure for something with a well documented failure rate.

Microsoft is mostly software oriented, so this is nothing new for everyone. But i actually heard someone say they purposely did it to add realism. I of course smacked him on the back of the head at bestbuy, then just left.
And before you ask, he wasn't being sarcastic. Plus we was being a complete idiot.

I shudder to think what would happen if I was playing a racing game over wifi.

China Syndrome?

If you have 2 360s that have Red Ring of Death'd, you call Microsoft and they'll fix them for free, and replace them with ones with heatsinks so it doesn't happen again.

Take the 2nd one and sell it.
