United Kingdom Transformers 1986 movie Blu-ray

Does anyone know if this movie is going to be region B locked , or region free?

If anyone knows please let us know.. amazon.co.uk has it for preorder coming out september 17 but no word on coding.

No one knows until it's actually out. We all pray the one and only Transformers movie will be region free however

If you're talking about the HD DVD release, it will be, because HD DVD is a region free format. The SD DVD will most likely be locked. (Sorry if that's not what you meant).

Even if this was a region free disc, it's in PAL, and our systems are running NTSC. The colors would like crap.

PAL is a standard definition video format. The Transformers Blu-ray Disc would be in 1080p/24, with Digital Component colour.

I hope you're not watching Blu-ray Discs in NTSC!

I was saying that PAL is standard in Europe and Asia, not here in America where it is NTSC.

Why mention that when talking about a Blu-ray disc, though?

You also said that the colours would look bad, which isn't the case. If this disc is region free, you will be able to play it in America with no problem, since it'll be authored at 1080p/24 and converted by the player to 60hz for output (unless you're lucky enough to have a 24p TV!)

Transformers the Movie (the real and only one) is owned by Sony in the US

In the UK, it's distributed by Metrodome. If that is the case, they may have to region lock the disc to Region B so as not to compete directly with sales of Sony's US version (if they ever decide to release one).

I say release the old animated Transformers movie the same day as the 2007 Transfomers that will confuse the hell out of people who want both, one being Blu Exclusive (animated) and HD DVD Exclusive (2007 live action) but don't know anything about the format war, and it may cause them to hold off on buying a HD optical disk player. My thinking is a person not buying either is better than a person buying an HD DVD player.

I joined the forums a couple of days ago and my first post was how funny it would be if this outsold the Paramount movie. Maybe we should organize a buy-a-thon for the '86 cartoon. I think it'll cost around $20, so even if it's not your kind of movie, buy it to stick it to Paramount and HD DVD.

Doh! That was my mistake, thanks for pointing this out. I was inadvertently thinking about Dvd, and not BD. Again my mistake. I thought it would be the same for Blu Ray as well.

Virtually all players now convert PAL to NTSC anyway. They look fine

I saw they still have the Paramount version of Transformers for pre-order. Is a different studio releasing it in England?

Why does everyone keep talking about PAL vs. NTSC?

1080p24 on Blu-ray is the same in the EU as it is in the USA and JP.

You may be thinking of 1080i50 vs. 1080i60 but those broadcast standards should not apply to this blu-ray release.

I also want to know if it is region coded. This is a definite import if it plays on a JP region player. One of the best films from my childhood.

Still waiting for news about sony releasing this classic and i'd hope for day n date or a week before to really screw up hd-dud's transformers campain.

Whatever ads they run sony should mach move for move so everyone knows
the REAL transformers are only on blu.

Hopefully ceda will yeild some news. They might be keeping it under raps
til thanksgiving or halloween but i can't imagine sony not releasing it this year.

Don't all tvs do 1080i50 and 1080i60 just fine? I've noticed my ps3 outputs 1080i60 and my satellite STB does 1080i50.. or the other way round. anyway both work, lol. and my tv sucks
