United Kingdom A Nightmare on elm Street (1984) Sept 27th

Looks like A Nightmare on Elm Street is finally getting a Region B UK release on September 27th.

I think it has taken so long for this to be released as Warner Bros. now have the rights to international distribution, that Entertainment in Video had for several years.

Also according to the BBFC website the movie has been passed uncut for video/dvd at 87 mins 27 secs while the previous version was 87 mins 20 secs???

Anyone think we might get the old CBS/FOX master with Tina's full death???

Up for pre-order on HMV and Play.

The remake also drops on October 25th in a Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy Combo Pack, but no pre-order links yet.

I told myself I would not re buy any movies I already owned on dvd (for now at least). But I may get this as the dvd on my complete series boxest has very little bonus features. Will very likey get the remake though even if I didnt like it all that much.

This will likely be the US disc with different artwork, meaning the same R-rated print. Shame.

no. EiV never make any effort. The increased length will be down to the slightly slower 24p frame rate

I just finished watching 'Never Sleep Again: The Elm St Legacy', and that splash shot is on it

Is that shot even on any home video versions? I've seen the original aussie VHS and its not on it.

this is Bluray.
US and UK discs have no framerate differences as there is no NTSC/PAL.

It was definitely on the UK's original retail vhs.

You've misunderstood the prior posts.

The comparison was between the UK DVD (25fps PAL) and 24p BD running lengths.

And on the rental as well. Like Nightmare5, it was always the full uncut version we had until DVD, at which point EiV decided it was too much effort to do a proper version, so just put out the cut American editions.

There are 2 different prints used for the UK CBS/FOX VHS release, one of which excludes a shot of Nancy saying 'No' in the scene where she visits Rod Lane in the cells. Seems to be quite a rare edition. We also had one released for rental in a coffin shaped box, ultra rare, I've been after one for ages.

Except both running times quoted in the first post clearly stem from PAL prints since it is a 7 second difference (or rather 9 as it is 87:29 and not 87:27) which is unlikely if BBFC had a 24fps source which would make about a 3 minute difference and this is clearly not the case.

Either way the 2001 entry was also 87:29 in length so nothing appears to have changed since then.

I remember watching this on VHS when i was 13 years old (a good 20 years ago), and when I watched it it had a sequence where it actually showed Kruger on trial in the courtroom, and the verdict (not guilty due to a technicality) that followed. Since then, the subsequent times that I've watched it on dvd, these scenes I have never seen again.

I'm assuming that they are on some sort of rare, uncut version of the film?

maybe it was a fan made edit then, as there were no flashback scenes ever shot for the original
