It was just announced that a sequel to Avatar: The Last Airbender TV show will be released in 2011. It has the working title of The Legend of Korra. I really wanted a direct sequel or a mini series where Zuko
[Show spoiler] but it looks like we won't get that.Plot: The Legend of Korra takes place 70 years after the events of Avatar: The Last Airbender and follows the adventures of the Avatar after Aang – a passionate, rebellious, and fearless teenaged girl from the Southern Water Tribe named Korra. With three of the four elements under her belt (Earth, Water, and Fire), Korra seeks to master the final element, Air. Her quest leads her to the epicenter of the modern “Avatar” world, Republic City – a metropolis that is fueled by steampunk technology. It is a virtual melting pot where benders and non-benders from all nations live and thrive. However, Korra discovers that Republic City is plagued by crime as well as a growing anti-bending revolution that threatens to rip it apart. Under the tutelage of Aang’s son, Tenzin, Korra begins her airbending training while dealing with the dangers at large. http://movies.yahoo.com/news/movies....OL04OHPZBfVXcA Last edited by detective392; 07-21-2010 at 04:56 PM. |

Sounds good.
I'm glad they're jumping ahead to the next Avatar in the cycle. For the most part, everything was wrapped up from the original series. Outside of the one thing that you mentioned. Of course, this way also leaves open the possibility of flashbacks, giving you some details of what happened after the original series. I still bet we'll see a DTV feature as well, featuring the characters from the original series. Which will probably follow the story plotline that you mentioned. The only real connector piece we get between Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra is the comic series entitled "The Promise." It takes place immediately after the show ended and then jumps ahead in time to tell a one-week story about the beginnings of Republic City and the initial conflicts that form between benders and non-benders.
Also, for anyone who thought they saw Appa in the Korra trailer, the rumor I heard was that [Show spoiler] .Anyway, so so so pumped for Korra. |
