Default Help Me Decide - Clash of the Titans or Prince of Persia?

I actually can't believe I'm doing one of these , but I missed both movies in theaters and now both are being released in Blu and in Steelbook (so the need to decide to buy before they are gone!)

I saw the 80s COTT as a kid, but I vaguely remember it. So I don't think that's much help.

Both movies seem to have actors I like fairly well (Jake Gylenhall, Liam Neeson, Sam Worthington).

So if you've seen both or one or the other, please post your opinions! Thanks!

The new Clash of the Titans is mediocre and I have not seen Prince of Persia. I can tell you however that the 1981 version is pure Harryhausen bliss and the BD is the best the film has ever looked on home video.

i saw Prince of Persia and loved it.

the editing is a bit choppy and some of the action is a bit up close....but i loved it.

i was going in not knowing what to expect and left the theater w/a huge smile on my face.

it should look amazing on blu.

I haven't seen PoP yet but I did go to see COTT. COTT was a major letdown. Special effects don't make a good movie.

Rent both of them and see which one you like more. I've seen both, and I don't think either of them is worth a blind buy. But "Prince of Persia" is still a better movie than "Clash of the Titans".

why is the word "or" included between the two movie titles??
its not like somebody is putting a gun to your head and asking you to watch one or the other!!
sometimes there are even two movies named in threats like this one, which couldn`t be more
different
still i wonder, don't some people have their OWN opinion?
why don`t you just rent the two, see if you like one or both and
then purchase accordingly??
if i tell you i liked clash of the titans, how would it help you
your taste could the the exact opposite of mine for all i know
or at least watch some trailers on youtube and decide for yourself!

i'm of the opinion that prince of persia was a lot better than people made it out to be.

check out the prince of persia thread, a lot of people on here were surprised @ how much they enjoyed it.

i haven't seen Titans yet but it looked like something i would enjoy so i'll be blind buying that next week.

I liked both but I'd give the edge to CotT (just barely). You know watch? Scratch that. Get both and be happy.

Or if you're simply looking for Gemma Arterton eye candy, get PoP as she looks her best there.

I'd say both. Both films a really different but if you like one, you'll like the other one... action, cool effects and settings, and then more action and eye candy, perfect for BD. Though I agree POP is a much better film.

Is the new Clash of the Titans really that bad? I've been really looking forward to seeing it. I think I'm just in the mood for a mindless visual feast. I have a copy on Blu-ray that I'll be checking out tonight. I guess I'll come to my own conclusion then and post my opinion.

+1...I agree, if it bothers you that much, just move on. Don't come into the thread. The OP said outright that she was looking for people's opinions on which movie people like better and why.

For the record, I did not see either of these movies in the theater. But I'm planning on blind-purchasing both of them.

I enjoyed both, but I found Prince of Persia a bit more satisfying and creative. The characters make more of an impression, and the cinematography's gorgeous. Both are fun popcorn flicks, though, that deserve a rental.

Neither. They both suck and are not that rewatchable. Don't blind buy them. Just rent them.

Blind buy JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS instead. An amazing movie and a great quality blu-ray with tons of documentaries as well!

Here's my take on both of these movies:

Clash of the Titans: This flick to me just ended up becoming a forgettable piece of mindless entertainment, with too many plot holes, dull action sequences (if you can even consider them that at all ), and B-rated performances from everyone.

Prince of Persia: For what it's worth, I found this movie very entertaining and it would be the one that I personally would pick up as a Steelbook (If Future Shop announces one ).

It's a decent movie that you'll keep your attention with well-choreographed sword-fighting scenes, superb special effects, some very nice exotic locales, a lavish production and a really nice musical score to boot.

But if you can't make up your mind. I'd say that you should save that money and put it towards a Steelbook release of a movie that you like a lot.

I have seen both films.
I would try to get them both benzgrl, and if you are asking which one to get first, get the one that comes out first.
I strongly recommend a blind buy on both, as you said you have missed both in theater, and save the rental costs as a partial to the purchases.

Prince of Persia;
Superb flick harkening back to the times of Ali Baba and 40 thieves films. Treachery, deception, backstabbing, blood lust and magic....and thats just the first 10 minutes lol. =)
Very well done, new twists that one may not see comming, good action scenes, splendid sets and old city CGFX, and well cast. Solid romance angle between the 2 stars as well.
This movie was made for BluRay imo.

9/10

Clash of the Titans;
Despite what some say, this movie takes the ancient story into the state of the art movie making times of today and handles it with respect and class.
I can not wait for this one to get into my BluRay player.
The script has good cadence and never drags, the characters are bigger than life, the task at hand is overwhelming, the cast is perfect and the "monsters" are sublime.
This is a popcorn vehicle that takes the viewer on a great ride from start to finish. The end of the film is absolutely surreal in it's big finish.

9/10

I saw both movies and enjoyed them both. Clash of the Titans had the better special effects while Prince of Persia had the better story line. Overall, I prefer Prince of Persia, but I hope to own both on Blu someday.

ReallY?

I went into your library trying to see what taste you have and perhaps quote a few movies by comparison on why the 2 a.m. flicks were no 'rewatchable' but, surprisingly found you have a solid library.
In fact, you have a lot of flicks that I do and you appear to enjoy fantasy films.
So I am wondering why you made such a comment as these 2 movies are better than some of the ones you purchased already.

I noticed he had 2012 as well

Not to say I don't have some bad movies but I don't flat out say this movie sucks or that movie sucks. Yes I posted earlier that I thought COTT was a disappointment but that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it. I just thought it wasn't as good as I would've hoped
