Consider me not on board for this movie, and I actually enjoyed the first film and somewhat enjoyed the show but this movie alienated me in so many ways and made me question why I ever liked anything about the show or the first movie, these ladies could have not come accross in more repulsive and repugnant manner, no buy for me!

+1. I didn't like the first movie much, and this was awful. Such a shame because the show was pretty good and genuinely groundbreaking at points, and I think many (mostly male) critics have used the movies as an example for how the show was always bad, when it wasn't. But yeah, this movie is incredibly culturally insensitive, occasionally racist, very elitist/classist, and also kind of homophobic in the opening. So many sections, I just couldn't believe they had the gall to be so offensive in such an obvious way, and to make those characters so awful. The fact that all the 'tension' in the final act revolved around them missing their first class flight home (as in, if they were late they'd HAVE TO FLY BACK IN COACH as though that is just the WORST THING EVER) really says it all. Carrie always annoys me, but one of the worst bits was probably Charlotte "I cook with my children in vintage Valentino" and Miranda "I quit my job when i have a sexist male boss" saying 'HOW DO THE WOMEN WITHOUT HELP DO IT, HERE'S TO THEM'. I don't see how any woman, especially if they aren't ridiculously wealthy like everyone in SATC, could not feel so patronised at that.

This review really sums it up: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHeQeHstrsc

I did quite enjoy my viewing experience of it though. I was at a cinema which served alcohol and played a drinking game. Cocktail #1 for every time something racist was said, cocktail #2 for elitism. We were wasted by the end.

How is he a troll? He stated his opinion just because he likes Sex and the City 2 more then Inception doesn't mean he's a troll.

This may be considered "trolling" but here goes...

I don't watch this series because...well....I'm a straight guy. Also, I like to watch shows with actual attractive females. Usually, I would agree with a statement like Eru's, because sex usually beats everything. However, that is not the case with the girls from Sex and the City; they don't qualify. They're old and ugly. Sarah Jessica Parker's face looks like a foot, and Kim Catrall is old as ****. Don't even get me started on that red head. Kristin Davis is the ONLY exception. So it's more like :

Attractive sex > Inception > Sex and the City sex

I agree I think Kristin Davis is the only good looking one in the show. After looking at the other 3 I just get

So what do you guys think of the rumor of them doing a prequel for the 3rd movie?
I reckon no, dont even think about it. The clueless tv show comes to mind and i just think tacky.

They can do whatever they want for the third movie, women like my mother and my sisters will still go see it.

Well if they do it according to the book "The Carrie Diaries", it can actually be pretty good...but we will see.

And they wanna cast Miley Cyrus as Carrie but someone else on this site said Hilary duff, which wouldn't be a bad choice.

I think that could actually be a good movie if they did that. Never read the book but they said it was about a teen Carrie so not sure how much sex they could have in it or if it would do good missing the other 3 women. I just hope they weren't serious about having SJP CGI as a teenager for the movie.

Completely agree with you. The first advanced the plot so much, and while I would have liked more plot advancement in this second film, it was still a great, fun movie. I mean, Liza at the wedding?! Charlotte's Irish nanny?! Miranda in Abu Dhabi?! And Samantha with all those pills?! Too funny! ... in my opinion, of course.

I see I'm in the minority here. I will admit I was having a bad headache the night I saw the movie so that likely played into the bad taste this film had in my mouth. But as someone who loved every minute of the original, I couldn't wait for this one to end, and I felt that Miranda was the only character in the movie who wasn't a total caricature of her television/movie #1 persona. Carrie especially lived up to every negative criticism people have had for her character before, but now that she married her prince and got her "happily ever after" it's much harder to actually root for her than you did in the TV show when Big actually did treat her badly. My bf and I are both homebodies so I couldn't at all sympathize with her being upset that Big wants to stay in and eat take-out and be with his wife while watching TV in bed... this is what she was wanting from him for ten years (counting the tv show and first movie) and now that she gets it she complains? I don't have kids (and have no desire) but I found Charlotte freaking out about motherhood to be condescending to the audience because she has a nanny, most of these working mothers who have to deal with the stress of motherhood do not have the luxury of sending the nanny and kids out for ice cream while she stays in and rests. And poor Samantha turned into nothing but a joke here.

SATC was my favorite show when it was on and the first movie lived up to the four years I waited for it, but the second movie is like a bad hangover dream sequence. I understand exactly how my partner feels when the words "Star Trek V: The Final Frontier" are uttered.
