Broken Sony Bdp-S1 Remote...HELP....!Please

Well sure enough,broken Remote.

I dont want to go the expensive routet.Is there some universal control I can buy just for now.I dont want to spend alot.Later on im planning on getting a sweet control.

I don't think there are any inexpensive universal remotes that are Blu-ray capable. One thing to do is try to order the original remote from Sony or Sears Parts (1-800-469-4663). The other thing is purchase a Harmony, which are a bit pricey but completely worth it. I would try eBay, you might find a good deal.

If it hasn't been a year just call Sony tech support, they are usually nice about replacing or fixing broken stuff.

Try Best Buy Part search at 1-888-BESTBUY they are usually cheaper than buying direct from Sony.

I looked up the part at Sears for you. It is part number 147984811 at http://www3.sears.com/ (their parts store online). It costs $55.95. I don't know how much Best Buys part store would have it for, but keep in mind that SHLD (Sears Holding) owns the company that provides parts and service for Best Buy and Circuit City.

My advice (besides trying eBay first), is spend a bit more and get the $80 or $100 Logitech Harmony remote, it's not much more.

...and yeah, the other guy is right about Sony. If your warranty is out, they will rip you off for a remote, but it can't hurt calling them and asking for their price and shipping.

Did you break it on purpose? It could understand that ... this remote truly sucks ... absolutely doesn't do justice to that otherwise excellent BD player!
