I am shocked, but I got this bluray from BB today. 1080i for the film and the trailer is in 1080p/24.

Americans don't need full HD. By the way, they don't have 1080P HDTV in America. 1080i will suffice for the American market.

I got my Netflix copy and it is indeed 1080i. Looks pretty good still on a large screen. The sound was excellent too. Unfortunately the movie itself kind of fell flat for me.

french release was also 1080p (TF1 video) and looked absolutely great.

You guys should get the South Korean Collectors Edition. Extras are PAL encoded, but the disc is region free.

This is incorrect. South Korea is not a PAL territory. The supplemental features on the Korean disc are in NTSC (480/60i) and 1080p -- and perfectly playable on Region-A players and North American TVs:
