What's the deal currently with the DMP-BD70VKs?

Really, what's up with the Panasonic VHS/BD models?

They seem to be less around; and at amazon and other places, they are too expensive (like over $400) over the regular price ($399.99), which has been downgraded from the original price (to like $369.99) by Panasonic itself.

Really! What's up with that? I had been planning to get one to check how the VHS would handle a BD unit (and I still have some VHS tapes), but they were too expensive at first. Then they were starting to get less expensive (but still didn't had enough) and now they have sky rocketed!!

Yeah, I am sure you will tell me that I should get a better BD player and for my VHS taste I should get a DVD/VHS combo, but I really wanted the DMP-BD70!

Makes me wonder if maybe Panasonic will make a new BD/VHS model. I mean, they have 2 new portable models (plus LG is already making its own).
