Known Defective Blu-rays

I was watching Godfather part 2 last night and it froze at 1hr41m, I was annoyed to say the least. But later learned that this was a known fault with the set and seems to be linked with the spine code BSP 2032.

It got me thinking, could there be any other niggling issues lurking on my shelf. I thought a thread listing films with there codes would be useful, and others could see if they have the problem and add any discs they know of or have encountered.


List in alphabetical order;
The Big Blue - French Dubbed Soundtrack - contact Optimum who will replace
The Black Dahlia (US blu) - horizontal black bars of 2.35:1 image are different thickness
Bladerunner - US - with the wrong disc 5.
Dark City - encoding anomaly at around 1:26:35.
Eastern Promises - Pathé! - has reversed audio.

Edge of Darkness - audio sync issue (starts at around 1hr 5min until 1 hour 17 minutes)
Fast & Furious Tokyo Drift - encoding error (Amazon orders only?)
The Fifth Element (US blu) - was re-released, initial release had replacement program
Gladiator - inital released DNR mess, was remastered & had replacement program. To find remaster copy, on back of white cover look for PocketBlu symbol.
The Godfather The Coppola Restoration - BSP 2032 - disc 2 - freezes at 1hr41 approx

A History of violence - UK - sound slightly out of sync for a brief period (?)
Inside Man - early copies has some rear speaker info completely missing for a few minutes (think it was in rear right channel) and disc was fixed and again, replacement discs offered..
Kelly's Heroes - lip sync issue?
King Arthur (US blu) - missing some 'forced' subtitles
The Leopard ("Il Gattopardo") - BFI - had incorrect black levels, has since been remastered and re-released- replacement disc offered.

Let The Right One In (original release) - missing dts-HD audio and had several video glitches. Has since been re-issued with dts-HD audio and several, but not all, video glitches fixed- replacement disc offered.
Lord Of War (US blu) - incorrect aspect ratio- fixed & replacement disc was offered
The Matrix Revolutions - fight between Neo and Agent Smith. (Encode error?)
Pandorum - Disc fails to load, player may read BD like a data disc
The Pianist - The german speaking parts feature NO subtitles

Pierrot le Fou - The StudioCanal Collection - early copies had the wrong film (Breathless) on the disc
PotC: Curse of the Black Pearl - framing issues, fight scene between Will Turner and Jack Sparrow (been corrected on the blu-ray/dvd combi pack)
Red Cliff:Special Edition - Disc fails to load, player may read BD like a data disc
Robots (Dutch blu) - missing advertised dts-HD audio
Saving Private Ryan - BSP 2159 - audio sync issue, chapter 15

Snakes On A Plane - was missing DolbyTrueHD audio- has since been fixed- replacement disc offered.
Stargate (US blu) - first blu missing 'forced' subtitles. Fixed and replacement disc offered
Terminator 3 (US blu) - Initial release incorrectly encoded 1080i instead of 1080p...issue was fixed and replacement disc offered.
Trainspotting - has a terrible judder problem.
Whip It - slight framing error?

Early copies of Pierrot le Fou from The StudioCanal Collection had the wrong film (Breathless) on the disc.

Would probably be very useful to add links to the threads providing information to resolving these issues (Replacement program) where they exist

Eg:
Gladiator - Replacement Program info
Saving Private Ryan - Replacement Program info

I'm still convinced KELLY'S HEROES has a lip sync issue (even though I have a replacement unwatched).

Having just read this post, I stuck my recently bought copy of Pierrot Le Fou in, and lo and behold Breathless came on! Any idea what I have to do to exchange the disc?! I wouldn't mind, but I've just pre-ordered Breathless!

No idea, sorry. They haven't set up a replacement program, as far as I know. I'm apprehensive about buying it myself as I'm afraid I'll end up with a dodgy disc.

Apparenly HMV did a recall. Its on another forum, not sure how the mods would feel about me linking it, but its at the top of this google search. Can find much info, but I suggest you email whomever you bought it from, StudioCanal or Optimum.

Thanks for that, I've emailed Optimum and tweeted them too, so may have an answer soon. Failing that, I did order the film from HMV (on May 11th!), so they may be able to do something.

The UK version of Edge of Darkness has a lip sync issue. It's out of sync for around 12 minutes. The issue starts at around the 1hr 5min mark and continues until around the 1 hour 17 minutes mark.

Is this topic about UK defects?

Because the Blade Runner issue is for the USA discs - The UK release is only a 2 disc set (so no disc 5)

I was watching Dark City and around the time where they are ripping the banner off the wall, one or two frames went all blocky (Macro Blocking?) may of been an encoding anomaly or framing issue. Can anyone else check their disc. I will find the exact time later on to day.
