Looks like the 360 is doing well this year with the Slim lineup. I wonder how September will go, since Halo: Reach is coming out on the 17th. However, looks like the PS3 is relatively gaining more sales compared to the other platforms this month, which is good.

I'm betting that at least 50 or 75 k of the xbox's sales are from discounted systems that parents buy due to the wii costing 50 to 80 dollars more. My local K marts were selling arcades and elites for crazy discounts. That 350k for xbox was expected, though, and september will be a big month for xbox as well. What surprised me were the huge madden ps3 numbers ( 893k! Does that include the bundles?) and the wii almost underselling the 300 dollar ps3.

Looking at those game sales makes me think every 360 sold in the last 3 years was to replace a broken 360.

If it was nothing but replacement sales there is no way that you'd have this:

I kinda wish they had the console-by-console breakdown like the Japanese hand-helds do. Like: PS3-160: XXX,000 PS3-250: XXX,000 etc. |

The PS3 is seeing tremendous software growth (35%), while the 360 is pretty much flat (down 1%). The 360 may very well see software growth in the future (like the PS3 did with the intro of the Slim), so we'll see then how much fresh blood was added. |

I'm pretty excited we'll get to see some digital sales data in the near future. I hope they don't just mash it all together under one category though.
