Default Microsoft Claims It Paid Nothing to Paramount for Supporting HD-DVD

Quote:
Might the tide be turning in HD-DVD's favor?

According to DVD Town, it looks like Microsoft is now willing to talk about the supposed money that changed hands between it and Paramount to support HD-DVD.

The result?

According to Microsoft this never happened.

Here's what "Kevin Collins, head of Microsoft's HD-DVD unit" now says in an official statement:

"Microsoft did not provide any financial incentives to Paramount/Dreamworks' recent decision to support HD-DVD."

Responding to other articles he read on the Home Theater Forum, he states, "This type of 'reporting' amazes me and I challenge anyone to provide proof around these statements. They are unfounded and inaccurate."...

i knew MS wasn't that dumb!
But they're not smart either. who is to say they [MS] didn't gave money to the HD-DVD association who in turn used it to buy exclusivity of paramount? Isn't this illegal and isn't there an investigation going on?

It's been pretty much established by people I trust that MS didn't directly pay but an unindicted 3rd party did intervene on behalf of MS to ensure Viacom was given benefits to support HD DVD exclusively.

I think pretty much everyone believes this and yet the MS folk think that this type of maneuever permits them to deny any involvement; the whole situation is really disgusting.

They say that to try and protect there name, but they wont be able to hide behind other companies forever. Most of the consumers know what MS did and even if they don't get officially in trouble we still know.
