2010-2011 NHL Fantasy League

Hey guys, we spoke about this last month in the NHL thread about getting a NHL fantasy team going... probably a min of 10-12 teams depending how many players we get... Before i create the league i'm putting up a Poll on what type of scoring were going to with... All powered by ESPN and we will have a live draft...

Please reply if you would like to join and what type of scoring you would prefer... I'll let you guys decide how much the entry fee $10 Amazon gc per person, with a first and second place winner and maybe a third depending how may players we get... Scoring will be Head 2 Head Points-Face-off with one opponent each week, score more total points

First prize wins 8-$10 GC for $80

Second price wins 1-$10 GC (Really $0 just doesnt have to pay first place winner)

draft is set for Tuesday Oct 5th @ 6pm.... 9pm EST for everyone on the east coast

Scoring is as follows.... Keep in mind these are standard league settings and can be adjusted if you guys decide something else...

Skating

Goals (G) 3 points
Assits (A) 2 points
Penalty minutes (PIM) 0.3 points
Power Play Points (PPP) 1 point
Short Handed Goals (SHG) 2 points

Goaltending

Wins (W) 5 points
Goals Asainst (GA) -1 ponts
Saves (SV) 0.2 points
Shutouts (SO) 3 ponts

Total Roster size 14, with 11 starters and 3 on the bench

Fowards 6
Defense 3
Goalie 2..
Bench 3

League will start week 1 of the season, 1 matchup per week, with a total of 21 matchups, with playoffs starting week 22, playoff teams setup will be 4 teams, 2 rounds, 2 weeks per round, playoff seeding tie breaker will goto better head to head record.

H2H Most Categories- H2H with one opponent each week, earning a win if you win the most categories.

Sounds like fun. I'm in if you guys want me. I see some names from the fantasy football pool that can probably vouch for me. I'm not too familiar with scoring systems for hockey leagues so I'm happy with whatever you guys decide. I imagine this will have to be thrown together pretty quick since hockey isn't too far off. Let me know.

i might be able to play depending on date/time of the draft.

How many players do we choose , positions, etc. What do we get points for ? More points for a shutout , etc ?

I'm down to join but I live in Canada and not sure I can purchase a amazon GC. If I can't I can paypal the $ to someone though. I'd be down for 10$ and maybe 10$ for playoffs if it goes well. If I put too much $ I"ll probably just get angry. Not to mention, 75% of the players i'll choose will be on the habs.

You can purchase Amazon GCs from Canada, I've done it lots of times. The first rule of playing fantasy sports is to forget about what teams or players you like or dislike. It's all about who puts up the numbers.

I know how to win one but i don't really care, that's why I don't want to put that much money in it, because I'll only choose players I like

Oh I'm in! I'd say a $10 - $20 Amazon GC is perfect.

This will be my first Fantasy Hockey league. Not enough hockey fans in Florida to make a good league.

I'm thinking with the current settings the Roster is to big... What do you guys think of something more simple...

Like 6 Fowards, 3 defenseman, 2 Goalies & 3 Bench players, im open to any suggestions as well....

I'd be fine either way...

Quick question...I'm a little confused about the "power play points"... does that mean if someone scores a power play goal that they only get 1 point? Or, do they get an additional point for scoring on the PP?

Sorry Nav and the rest of the guys - the last few weeks have been CRAZY busy for me and I've had to take some time off. Hopefully things go back to normal in a week or so. This should be fun. About the GC, sure - what the hell. $10-$15 GC would be fine with me.
