under the forum tab of this title's details page there is nothing, so I don't know if there is a hidden thread for this release or not.
anyway, watched this bd tonight, and wow, it looks VERY impressive. I mean I was absolutely floored at how good this blu-ray looks overall, and though the dvd--which I have--is not bad, this blu-ray provides a noticeable and significant improvement in all areas. It provides an excellent representation of the source material, which not surprisingly looks exactly like you think it would--somewhat soft and drab, with an abundance of extremely dark scenes. The thing is, this blu-ray transfer really shows great clarity, and handles these many dark scenes much better than you would ever expect. I would actually say with no hesitation this is one of the best looking blu-rays of a 70's film I have seen. Also, the few daylight scenes look nothing short of phenomenal imo. plus, the DTS-MA soundtrack is fantastic, with the many atmospheric sounds effects sounding as clear as ever. In short, anyone who loves this cult classic will be thrilled with MGM's effort imo. It is a real winner. invasion.jpg Invasion of the Body Snatchers Blu-ray Review Last edited by Blu Titan; 09-25-2010 at 02:59 AM. Reason: Added cover photo and link to review. |

I wanted to start a thread for the title but I kept putting my thoughts about it under the MGM thread for those horror releases from that release date. So I love this thread
I think the transfer is really good. Yes there are print issues here and there but it is true to the negative. |

My sister and I saw it in the theatre for its original release. The ending was a real shocker.
I received the BD, but haven't gotten around to watching it yet. A review I read somewhere called it a sequel, and I laughed at first. However, after thinking a bit more, I can see how it could be considered a sequel, if the intended ending to the original had been kept. Before the studio demanded that Siegel tack on a "happy ending" implying that society would band together to repel the invaders, the first ending only showed McCarthy's character running in traffic and screaming. Now, in the '78 version, we find McCarthy's character running and screaming in SF. We could imagine that the '78 version is a continuation of the original version. Doug |

Got this in the mail today, can't wait to see it again. The 2007 dvd already looked pretty nice, so as per the reviews I've read the BD should be a solid upgrade of an already strong transfer. It's asinine that mgm saw fit to include the ancient non-anamorphic flipper dvd though (btw--they had that many copies of that damn thing still just lying around? ..Really?). Luckily I had the 2007 disc still on hand and it includes the commentary, so I swapped that one for the old edition inside the blu case.
