I was just thinking: There is a 10% discount from Amazon if you by three Blu Ray titles. So you could buy the Samsung for 10% off after you preorder 3 Blu Ray titles. I don't know of any other deals, so $900.00 is better than $1,000.00

Purchase any qualifying item(s) from our High-Definition Store now, and within 72 hours you will be enrolled to save 10% on all HD DVD and Blu-ray disc purchases for one year from the date of your qualifying order (total value limited to $5,000 in total purchases or $500 in total discounts).

If you have already purchased or pre-ordered a qualifying item, then you have been pre-qualified for this offer and you should already see the discount automatically applied to your order or pre-order of any high-definition DVD.

Qualifying items include the following:

Any high-definition television (HDTV)
Any HD DVD player: see the Toshiba HD-A1 and the Toshiba HD-XA1
Any Blu-ray disc player: see the Sony BDP-S1
Three high-definition DVDs purchased in one order: specifically, HD DVDs and Blu-ray discs

Any high definition DVDs purchased in the same order as the qualifying item(s) will also receive the 10% discount (including the three HD DVD or Blu-ray discs purchased to qualify for the promotion). In order for the discount to take affect on the discs you are purchasing with your qualifying order, you will need to use the following claim codes upon checkout:

If you are purchasing an HDTV, or an HD DVD or Blu-ray disc player, your claim code is: HIGHDEF1
If you are purchasing three HD DVDs and/or three Blu-ray disc DVDs, your claim code is: HDDISC10

How come it says estimated release date for Samsung is:

Quote:
Shipping estimate for these items: August 7, 2006

Delivery estimate: August 8, 2006

1 "Samsung BD-P1000 Blu-Ray Disc Player"

Probably because Amazon is just estimating in case they only have enough to fill the preorders before yours. I doubt Samsung would delay the player this far into the game. Especially with movies coming out on June 20th.

I don't put much faith in Amazon getting any new item to their customers quickly. For instance, Constantine just came out on HD DVD yesterday. Today their site states "usually ships within 4-6 weeks."

Weeks?!!

Default Gettin It Done!

Ok, I just cleaned house with the amazon Rep:

1) If the coupn code for the 10% off Blu Ray player doesn't work, call them: THE SAMSUNG IS ELEGIBLE AND MY PRICE WAS $899.00... I don't think anybody else is discounting this unit, then again I'll check froogle. Let me know how all you bastages are going to get your SAMSUNG day and date, and for $700.00.... 1, 2, 3, GO!!!

2) They are going to fix the display date on constantine

Oh, Christ, that's not a bad price at Amazon. And I get triple points with my Amazon card...

No! Must keep my self-control....

Did Amazon say anything about that August release date?

I did a search at Froogle. I've never heard of those stores. I'm not going to just give my money away and not get a player in return. I'd love a nice discount but I'd feel much more confident picking this up at a store I've heard of, even if it means paying full MSRP.

As I mentioned in the other thread, the store with the lowest listed price doesn't even show up on epinions, so I wouldn't trust it.

I would still like to know why Amazon says August for this player. That discount plus triple points on my Amazon card make this hard to resist. Looking at Amazon now, it says that the 10% discount is good on HD/BD items for an entire YEAR. If you pre-order anything at Amazon, they offer lower prices than after it is released. Combine that with the 10%, and this is a really attractive offer. If I order this player, I will get 10% every disc I pre-order for a year, and if I replace the player in a year, the player as well.

Then again, if I order three discs it will get me the same deal. So I might just order some discs and wait until better players come out.

Sorry for the double post, but I found this site for those of us who are determined to get a PS3 at launch to play our BD movies: http://ps3.preorderwatch.com/
