When will BD player sales pass HD DVD?

Technically, it already has if you count the PS3.

In terms of console players, I'd place the figure in Q1 2008. Possibly Q4 2007, if enough can be sold.

On the bottom chart, it looks like the BD player sales started to spike in June, when the lower priced Sony S300 became available, I know that's when I joined up.

I really hope it is Q4 of 07. Sales of blu are still good at 68 to 32 for the week ending of 8/26 but down at bit from 71 to 29 last week. Blu is winning, but the war is far from over. I think it is going to be partly up to us 10,000 members to be generous this Xmas and purchase PS3's and stand alone players. Lets finish this thing once and for all. Who was it that said 'The face that launched a thousnad ships'? "Row, greeks are dying!"

i think q2 08 is when bd players will double taht of hd dvd even tho hd dvd will likely have a 150$ player blu-ray has like to many to rmember coming out

Correct me if I am wrong. The number of blu-ray players do not outsell HD-DVD, yet we are buying MUCH more movies. Selection is everything.

If we don't outsell HD-DVD this Christmas, it will only prolong the war. Start recruiting people.

When people stop buying PS3's as their primary Blu-ray playback device. And I guess that'll only happen when full featured, quality stand alones start showing up in the market for less then $400.

We need a Daewoo type player, around $200.00 to take the heat off of the bottom end of the market. We need to stagnate the HD DVD market and overtake them by the first quarter, in stand-alone players. A drop in the price of the software is also a pre-requisite to defeating the opposition.

While visiting my sister in ithica ny i went to sericuse about an hr away and
went to a best buy where i found some1 i never met talking with a best buy
employee and saying he'd wait til 1 was left standing before getting either.
The bb guy was talking about hd-dud and i jumped in saying i already had bd
told him about the 5 free deal and told him to pick up the superior 60 G ps-3
before they were gone and to hurry on the 5-free because it ended sept 30th.
I doubt i'll know if he bought it but it's likely.

Bought lair while i was there...only my 2nd ps-3 game sience jan 2 when i bought the system and rfom.

Other games i will get uncharted,heavenlly sword and ratchet...i only get the very best games.Motorstorm is good when it gets cheaper but not at full
price...too few tracks it just doesn't last and sports games aren't something i care about.

I think it will only surpass HD DVD standalones once profile 2.0 players are readily available and for well under $300.

Doing a rough eye count of that chart I came up with BD players 28,500, HD DVD players 35,000.
(+/- maybe a thousand or 2 )

The chart here looks like they have already caught up with HD-DVD going downward while Blu-Ray is going upwards.
