USA When will Blu-Ray Process Titles Faster?

More blu-rays are coming each month and that number gets more and more. Are we gonna get to the point where they start spitting about 10 - movies and releases a month. Blu-ray does have alot of catching up to do. I hold on buying most dvds now in hope that some time down the line it will eventually get released.

Breakdown
Child's Play 2 and 3
Swimfan (haha I know, but the blu-ray would look 10 better)
Ransom
Scream 1,2,3
Heartbreakers (Jennifer Love Hewitt )
Aladdin 1,2 and 3
Almost Heroes
Armageddon (Extended Cut)
Bedazzled
Bride of Chucky
Bully
Casper
City of Angels
Cinderella 1,2 and 3
City Slickers 1 and 2 (I'd buy it if it was a double feature)
Eurotrip
Fear
Father of The Bride 1 and 2
The Forsaken
The rest of the Friday The 13th movies
Freeway
The Gift
etc etc etc
I have a ton of DVDs I am putting off in hope that a blu-ray is in the near future. Anyone know when they will be speeding up more releases because they need to at least try to speed it up a little bit. That not even mentioning the tv shows i want released.

Most of the catalog titles they released are based on what they think will sell. They need to get the Aliens and Star Wars out before Friday the 13th part 7.

I can see Disney getting to the first Aladdin movie eventually but I highly doubt they'll bother with 2 & 3

I agree. With the cost in working on a blu-ray they want to make sure they can make money.

Well, is there a site that explain how many or how well a DVD sold? Maybe if we know how well the title sold then we can figure out if it ever would come to blu-ray?

You would think they would get quicker at turning around some of the old hd-dvds to BD. I would like to see more comedies, like Ace Ventura or Better Off Dead, and some rom-coms, like Notting Hill, as well.

The only shot the cheapquels had was being bundled in as extras with the first film, but Beauty and the Beast crushed any hopes of that chance. They just want to distance themselves away from them I guess. I hope Aladdin gets here sooner than later, though.

The Scream movies will be out this year i would say either before Scream 4 which is in April or 3 months after when Scream 4 would come out on BD, Father of the Bride 1 is has been announced but no date yet.. and Armageddon just came out so i doubt youll see an extended cut anytime soon..

i would rather them come out with correct transfers then just to come out, i have a list about 50 catalogs im waiting for to turn Blu, BD format has only been around for 3 years, so we all gotta be patient even though its hard, but everything taht is on DVD will be on Blu-Ray (i strongly believe that)

Default "The One" I have been waiting for!

I want Das Boot! Wolfgang Peterson has had several movies on Blu-ray: Poseidon, Troy, The Perfect Storm, Air Force One, Outbreak, In the Line of Fire, The Neverending Story. When is his BEST film (IMHO) coming to Blu-ray???

As much as I liked Das Boot my favorite film of his has always been Enemy Mine.

Give it a few more years. By then I predict that all the big catalogue movies ("Star Wars," "Excalibur," "Ben Hur," "The Abyss," "Jaws," "Lawrence of Arabia"...all predictions only, but even if these don't make it many others probablty will), then they'll get to the less popular movies, and hopefully the sequels to movies already out on BD.

I remember it took forever for many films to come to DVD ("Star Wars," "Jurassic Park," "Titanic," etc). Now, about 12 years into it, they're at the point where most of any crazy film can be found on DVD. Who's to say that BD won't reach that point too?

I definitely have to agree with you on that one. I feel like not only are they coming faster than dvd releases ever did, but you hear about them more often than dvds now. Whenever I hear a commercial about a new release on the television I hear them say new on blu-ray and dvd

And it's always quoted "Blu-Ray and DVD" - NOT "DVD and Blu-Ray" ...the push is on.

Titanic and Jurassic Park were all released within a few years of the format. Of course it took a while for Titanic to finally get an anamorphic release.
I do think we'll see less re-releases than before. Titles like the Alien Anthology don't seem to be improved very much.

I forgot that "Titanic" and "Jurassic Park III" were new releases for DVD at its time. It still felt like it took forever. I seem to remember waiting a whole year for that "Titanic" bare-bones release; seemed so exciting at the time. It seemed like a big deal getting the first two JPs on disc too.

As for the Alien Anthology, I think it had a timely release. It's only been, what, four years since BD's launch? I don't remember when the original Alien DVDs first came out, but the Quadrilogy DVD set is still not terribly old.

The other factor in this will be what quality product catalogue releases will be. "Alien" and many other classics had long delays for a immaculate restoration work, creating more extras, package redesign, disc authoring, etc. A bunch of high-demand catalogue titles could probably be put out right away, but at inferior quality. And then an inferior product could discourage sales (and posibly marr the customer's enthusiasm). I'd rather wait it out a little to get the best quality disc.
