Exclamation The Evolution Of Home Video

I don't know if this is the right section for this topic, but what the hell.

I've always been interested in technology and movies in general. So I decided wouldn't it be good idea to do an absolute comparison of PQ for the hotly debated movies such Ghostbusters, BTTF and LOTR?

The movies I have available right now are Ghostbusters and BTTF. The Thing will be done once I get a Blu-Ray copy.

I own Ghostbusters on every commercial format released in the last 30 years, even CED. However, I cannot do CED and Betamax since I don't have the anything to play them on.

I'd like for others to participate if possible, if you own a movie on at least three different formats then you can help!

Currently researching Ghostbusters, I have the Blu-Ray, 2004 DVD and The Criterion LaserDisc running simultaneously. The LaserDisc is winning in the audio department.

Not really sure what the point of this new thread is. It's obvious that the Blu-ray transfers for "Ghostbusters," "BTTF," and "LOTR" are currently the best available to own on home video. The debates surrounding both "BTTF" and "LOTR" have less to do with them being superior to previous formats, and more to do with the fact that they could've (and should've) looked better on Blu than they do. "Ghostbusters" on the other hand, looks the best it probably ever will.

The point is to showcase the evolution of PQ and different formats.

UPDATE

I've taken pictures of Ghostbusters on Blu-Ray and DVD, will be able to do VHS once I plug it into my new TV, my LaserDisc player needs a remote at the moment.

I found two sites that have screenshots of both DVD's and the Blu-Ray...however I am doing 2 LaserDiscs versions and the VHS release.

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1156395

Here is the DVDBeaver screencaps
http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film2/DVDRe...rs_blu-ray.htm

After watching some of both DVD's...it's obvious that SONY/Columbia used different prints, the ballroom is much less damaged in the 2004 release. Downside is the colors are pumped up too much and Slimer drowns on the color of everything he touches.

If anyone owns a Betamax copy of GB and can capture images, please do so!
