ComingSoon.net's latest poll has asked its users and common visitors which format they prefer in the current disc-to-disc battle. The results thus far are as follows...

and i would say that most of those 53% exist because HD DVD exists!

I think the 53% exist because both formats exist. Let's be honest, we might all believe that blu-ray is the better format, but only having one of either would still make adoption of HD quicker.

well believe it or not most people dont want to go HD just yet because they get to spoiled with dvds so when something better comes out they dont see the point on why they have to get a movie in HD

According to some, the majority of people care less about quality picture and audio and more about convenience thus rendering DVD good enough for them.

it is surprising that people like to stick with old school. I guess because of HDDVD people aren't sure which format to with, so they decided to stick with DVD for now.

Most of my relatives are using their cable companies VOD service for new releases and HD programming. They no longer want to have to buy any DVD/CD media and could care less about a format war they all went through it with VHS/BETA and would rather downloadable and VOD content. Most of them have HP media centres with their HD tv's.
