Default Halo 3 Hype Is the Game Worth it?

I am really stuck on selling my 360. I mean i bought it back in April and it has provided me with a great online experience but i cant decide if Halo 3 will be worth. I Love FPS's, but they just keep getting old. Halo - Halo 2 - Halo 3 - Prey- Rainbow Six - Graw 2 all the Same, in the fact that they are all FPS's. Halo 3 Seems to be a Halo 2.5 even with Updated graphics and new weapons, armor and of course new maps

I was hoping to wait unitl TGS for any new announcements for the 360, but at this point is seems to be becoming another dreamcast for me. I really Loved the Dreamcast. Great System
Any Suggestions?

Unless you are a die hard fan who cares, people swear by Halo like it was the best game ever. After 3 weeks i got bored of it and wanted to sell it. But that is just my opinion.

never, but that's my opinion. Ask 4 out of 5 gamers they will say yes. I just think it's overrated. My opinion, please don't flame me.

I've got a guy buying mine on Tuesday next week. (Pay-day, woo-hoo!) I figured that anything coming out on the 360 worth buying comes out on PC. Then I can just buy THAT software and play it on my MAC. F Microsoft!

After UT pre 2k, I tried Halo...and found it abhorrantly boring and vanilla. Some years later I thought that I may have been a bit hasty with that opinion and tried Halo2...nope, same reaction.

To me, master chief looks like a crotch-rocket jockey who accidently wandered onto a battlefield looking for his lost motorcycle and then someone shoved a gun in his hand and pointed towards the general direction of the nearest enemy...just my 2 cents.

By how you wrote it initially, your post reads like you have some shred of hope left, but you know, deep down, that it is over. Only you can decide in the end.

It sounds like you aren't very happy with your 360, so I don't think anyone is going to convince you...

As for the hype that is surrounding Halo 3, it is very hard to say how well the game can live up to the expectations...

Sometimes a decent game like Lair becomes a defiled game when too much hype puts it under too many fine-tooth combs...

I think that Halo 3 will probably retain much of the same online antics that made the second one both popular and utterly hated at the same time. When you talk to people about Halo 2, you get a mixed bag about both the single player and the multiplayer aspect...

I currently do own both the PS3 and the 360, and will be most certainly picking up Halo 3 when it is released.

Even though the graphics will probably be decent, there seem to be some very cool things going to be included with the game. There is talk of an on-the-spot map editor where you can bascially call in any weapon, vehicle, ammo, etc, etc at any point in time. Think of it like the Matrix in a video game, where anything can be yours at any time.

It sounds like something that could seriously be fun to play with some friends on a lazy drunken saturday night. It also helps that it is a seperate feature outside of the normal multiplayer so it won't be used to effect rank or anything of that nature.

Outside of that, Halo 3 will probably be more of the same. I can't see selling your 360 though. You already have the money shelled out for it. Games like Too Human, Mass Effect, Fable 2, and Alan Wake are not FPS games that should be very fun to play, and could warrant keeping your 360...

Of course, in the coming months, well into next year, I am sure you can find plenty to play on your PS3 as well so...

Whatever works best for you. But why not have the best of both worlds if you have already spent the money???

Honestly, from what I have seen of it, I am not that impressed. The graphics don't look that spectacular. Halo 2 was kind of dissapointing. I am thinking this one will be an even bigger let down. The first one was good for it's time, but the market is just so overflooded with FPS's these days. I have a 360 and I will rent it, maybe.

Some of you may laugh at this but I always liked the timesplitters series better than Halo. Reminds me of the old Golden Eye for 64. Loved the customization options for multiplayer... like adding bots to split screen actiion.

I have all 3 halo's 1,2 and the map pack. Halo is cool but Im not one of those hardcore xbox halo fans. Personally I hate M$ and would have bought an xbox at launch until I saw THE DUKE, the massive original xbox controller, I canceled my preorder the next day. Halo is a good game but thats where I'll leave it a good game, after playing PC FPS games it's hard to consider Halo the greatest FPS ever, Id give Half-Life 2 that (yes I have bioshock too). I am so amped for the "HL2: Orange box" coming out on pc, ps3, and 360. Hell CoD 4 looks much better than Halo 3 both single and multi player. Ps I never was a fan of the halo story either. Sorry for you marathon fans If I offended you

Personally, I think Gears of War is a better FPS than Halo. Halo is really no different than Doom or Quake cept a storyline and cooler weapons/vehicles. Gears of War is much more innovative from a gameplay perspective and better graphics IMO.

Halo is the most popular FPS to this day for 2 reasons IMO,

1. Online play - When xbox first came out, this is their flagship game for online play and it attracted millions of gamers with the idea of playing with a game controller and not a keyboard. Xbox live is one of the key reason for Halo's success and it will continue to be it. Dont get me wrong, the maps, weapons, the options under multiplayer, and I have to say it is really fun when Im online. The basic, good but short, storyline can be wrapped up in about 2-6 hrs depending on skills. If you are not a online person, then this game probably isnt really for you.

2. Red vs Blue - Was a fan-made parady and turned into a million dollar DVD franchise. I remember when they first came out, it was free download off the net, now they are up to season 5 I believe. I have to say watching this makes me wanna play Halo. It was probably the most hilarious thing based off a serious game Ive ever seen. I believe most people who were exposed to this anime series ended up either buying an xbox just for Halo, or at least thought about picking up the game.

Hey Martinstraka8282 you would probably like Haze, an exclusive ps3 game developed by Free Radical the makers of the Time Splitters series. I agree with you the Time Splitters games are dope.

1. Gears of War is a 3rd person Shooter not an FPS.

2. Gears is a next gen game thats at least 2 years newer than doom3 and 1.25 over Quake 4

3. Try Half Life 2 in the New "orange box" game on pc, 360 and ps3 in winter and tell me that story isn't better, oh and about 15hrs longer

i have a 360. my original one got the red ring of death so i got a refurb back and thats what i have now. halo...to me...isn't worth it. there are comparable games on the ps3 (resistance, gears of war, upcoming haze) your dreamcast analogy works perfectly with me. same way i feel about it. im keeping it around as a toy for when 360 games hit 10 bucks a pop in the future but its in my drawer. ive been using the ps3 for a few months now and it does the job as far as gaming goes. (though i would like to see an improvement in their online store and EA has been giving PlayStation the shaft)

dont know how much youd get for your 360 anyway considering the introduction of the xbox elite. how much are you expecting for it and what would you do with the money?

Yah I am really pumped for Haze, and I have downloaded the trailer for it on my PS3.

BTW, I love Devin The Dude... Classic! (the rapper not the poster)

Free radical was also the team that did the original goldeneye for n64. They left rare to start free radical and made timesplitters. So, Haze should be good.

when I bought my 360 I bought halo 1 because for years I'd heard wow what an amazing game this is the best ever, but when I sat down and played it I wasnt blown away the game wasnt that great ... granted it was a good shooter maybe in the top 100 ever but it really wasnt the type that I'd think mD would make a drink 4 lol... anyway I did reserve the 3rd for online play but I doubt this will go down in history as one of the best games ever.l

my honest opinion about halo 3 and other fps on consoles. i dont like em. i play fps on the pc only.

But about halo itself. Its a lil more "fantasy" fps compared to some. I personally prefer ones like call of duty. battlefield 1948 etc. The more realistic ones. Not that halo can't be fun sometimes. its just not a prefered fps format for me

Also personally I believe that while halo 3 will sell any other game in the history of games, alot of it is mostly because looking at the xbox 360. I really odnt see many other games that are any good for it. You got bioshock and gears of war that stand out.. but for me their ok but to most their great. But again considering what else is coming out for it, that will help its success alot.
