Default Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone Question

I currently own all the available harry potter films on blu except the Sorcerers Stone. My original copy broke when i dropped my back pack on the case..stupid I know.. My question is should I but the single disc for $10 or is it worth is to upgrade the ultimate edition? TIA

There are people on here that will tell you the Ultimate Editions of the first few films have upgraded audio/video, but I have yet to see proof of that. The UEs have a fantastic ongoing documentary that is absolutely worth watching once...outside of that, the packaging sticks out and its expensive as hell. I'd say just buy the 10 dollar one again unless you really want the UE.

Oh, and you know once you buy the first youll want the rest. And they are not cheap.

Go with the $10 one. The UE will stick out, especially if you just own one of 'em. Oh, and it's also $10! Can't beat that.

I'm quite fond of the UE. I loved the documentary, and the extended edition of the film was a nice touch- not necessary, but a nice one. They're not crazy expensive anymore. I think they are worth it.

UE all the way! It's really great product. PQ/AQ are wonderful, and new documentary is a real gem!
Though, I liked second documentary more. Parts where actors read from the books about their characters is magnificent! My favorites are Radcliffe, Isaacs, Branagh...

Depends how casual of a fan you are. I think the UEs are fantastic. Plus you get the extended cut.

I was changed due to the perception that American readers would be more drawn to "Sorcerers".

Yup, Sorcerer's sounds a LOT more exciting than Philosopher's, I imagine even in merry old England.

Any lines mentioning the Stone were filmed twice, subbing "Sorcerer's" for "Philosopher's" to cater to the American market.

My vote would be to get the collectors edition with the extended version of the film, put the artwork from the single disc into a 3-disc case, put the movies in that and store the big CE box...

I mean there will be features not listed on the case that's on the film, which doesn't really matter unless you're a stickler for that kind of think.. If you are you could get a custom cover from the thread here and print it out and have all your problems solved.

That's correct. In the books they also changed a few other words that may have caused confusion; "crumpets" to "muffins" is one that springs to mind.

Buy the US ultimate edition and the UK single disc edition.
That way you have all versions of the film.

I'd get the UE. Even though they stand out significantly, it's still a nice package.

It's the other way around: they changed "Philosopher's" to "Sorcerer's" probably because Sorcerer sounds more exciting and mysterious than Philosopher and because in the anti-intellectual, dumbed down American market, anything with the word "philosopher" might scare people away. Also because to most minds, a philosopher only thinks about stuff and a sorcerer actually takes actions. And god forbid we should ask our kids to think about anything.

I thought this kind of talk was against the rules of the forum?

But what is said is very interesting. Thanks for sharing. I kid. It's not really that interesting.
