Default Nintendo Revolution now called "Wii"

The moment has arrived…

Introducing… Wii.

As in "we."

While the code-name "Revolution" expressed our direction, Wii represents the answer.

Wii will break down that wall that separates video game players from everybody else.

Wii will put people more in touch with their games… and each other. But you’re probably asking: What does the name mean?

Wii sounds like "we," which emphasises this console is for everyone.

Wii can easily be remembered by people around the world, no matter what language they speak. No confusion. No need to abbreviate. Just Wii.

Wii has a distinctive "ii" spelling that symbolizes both the unique controllers and the image of people gathering to play.

And Wii, as a name and a console, brings something revolutionary to the world of video games that sets it apart from the crowd.

So that’s Wii. But now Nintendo needs you.

Because, it’s really not about you or me.

It’s about Wii.

And together, Wii will change everything.

It also sounds like a colloquial term for urination ...

Holy crap, they're for real! As I was reading your post I thought this must be a joke but then you had the link at the bottom which confirms my next suspicion, Nintendo is run by crackheads.

Truth be told their Super Mario World game is one of the few video games I ever got into.

Exactly. And the bad jokes and puns have already blown up en masse all over gaming forums everywhere.

I really must question what Nintendo was thinking on this one.

I thought Revolution was a great name. No need to change it!

They make it sound like we are in a little club where only we can buy video games. The people that dont buy them, Dont want them and dont care to play them. My parents and grandparents dont not play games cause the controllers have lots of buttons, they dont cause its not their thing. My Dads not going to run out and grab a Wii little game system (pun intended) cause its been dumbed down and he's not intelligent enough to use more that 2 buttons at a time. He's a smart guy and has done more than I could possibly hope to do, He just doesnt like games and Wii wont change that fact. I've tried.

Madden sounds crazy on this system...the touch passing is based on how fast you swing the controller..

I have to say: Conservatively, there's at least 5 games I saw announced at the E3 that I want for this system. Zelda and the two Mario games being prime examples.

Despite my concerns about this new controller, my disappointment in no HD and probably no Dolby Digital (again?!?!)... for under $300, which is what this thing will probably cost...I think I'm going to preorder one of these.

I certainly hope that I get a chance to demo this thing, especially with the controller, before making the actual purchase.

Even if this has no hi-def, I'm still planning to get one (well once the price goes below USD$200 hehe  )

My first game would probably be a Super Smash Bros. game for Wii. Then the rest would be a few sports games & couple of racing games.

actually...I'm not all that concerned about HD gaming right now...

I'll try to load up on ps3's and sell them on ebay around christmas time...and then purchase a ps3 when the price becomes a little more reasonable and then purchase a high end BD player after I get another new HD TV...

apparently most of the HDTV's don't offer a particular function...I don't recall what it is, but supposedly...if your HD TV doesn't have this then your BD or HD DVD player won't offer a whole lot better than current DVD players...

the downfall is that I read this in an electronics gaming magazine on a stand because the cover said "5 reasons you shouldn't buy an HDTV yet" and I take their knowledge in the HD forum with a grain of salt...

if anyone knows what this option is on your TV,...please feel free to mention it and I'll let you know if it rings a bell..

I borrowed a NDS just to play the new mario game....and I haven't played a mario game since the N64.......nintendo is going back to their strength and that is making games...they are opening their mind to new things and giving people what they really want...
