Can we get some reviews for some Canadian releases? I would like to see reviews for Halloween Triple Feature and A Man Apart and Running Scared Double Feature if possible, please.

C'mon Svet, cite some examples of this: "Alliance's decision to reframe It's All Gone Pete Tong from its original aspect ratio of 2.39:1 to 1.78:1 is extremely disappointing as there are portions of the film that are practically unwatchable."
The image definitely deserves better than a 2/5. I've never been a fan of cropping, or having films presented differently than they were initially shown... Robert Rodriguez has messed with this for his films Planet Terror & Once Upon a Time In Mexico, which are readily available in 1.78:1 transfers on DVD & Blu-ray(PT is 2.35:1 only in Grindhouse). I found that the 1.78:1 transfer for Pete Tong looked rather good & sharp, & did not notice or was bothered by potential cropping. I do recall hearing that the film was actually opened up for many shots as well. |

Exotica Blu-ray REVIEW
![]() There were a couple of requests for a review of this Canadian release. (Matti, your request was a priority). Video: Disappointing. It is sourced from the same dated master Artificial Eye accessed. The transfer is filtered across the board and the film looks disappointingly flat -- no proper dynamic range, no proper contrast levels, no accurate color reproduction, etc. The current master is garbage, a new one is needed. As it is the case with the Region-B release, my score is 2.75/5.00. Audio: Better. You get a lossless track here and the difference is obvious. This immediately makes the Alliance release the one to own. However, if the audio is remastered, fidelity will be even better. (The club sequences should sound even better). 4.5/5.00. I was actually expecting more, but this release is just as underwhelming. ![]() Pro-B |
