Default On A Need To Know Basis....

hey guys,

awesome day for me today. I bought superman retruns, superman richard donor cut, cinderella man, how the grinch stole christmas, the hulk and the matrix trilogy. now i know that these films are on HDDVD, but here is the sweet thing about it. since i switched to bluray, i lost all my interest to HDDVD. I sold the player and most of the films i had, and all i had left the movies mentioned above and still in their plastic wrap. and here is what i did. i went to best buy's customer service today and told them that i got the films for my Birthday, and i don't own an HDDVD player. the customer rep. asked me if i have the reciept for them, and i replied i don't. "i didn't mention it before but i had these films for quite some time with the matrix being the most recent one 3 months ago. and superman, cinderella man being about 5 to 6 months now." she said, becuase you don't have the reciept i can return them but won't give you cash back, you will be getting a best buy gift certificate. so i got a total of 224.83 cents. picked up kingdom of heaven on BD and reservoir dogs. and i will be using the rest for BDs buy a thon on september 18.

the point is, on a need to know basis, if anyone of you has any HDDVDs still in their plastic wrap. this is a golden opportunity to retun them, and save up the money for sept. 18.

to any of you out there. do you have anything similar that falls under the THE NEED TO KNOW BASIS category, for us to learn about. EDUCATE US.

I've done this in the past with different items from memory cards to dvd's I didn't want but got in a contest or something, back when I did it they said without a receipt they can only do this once every 6 months or something like that, but hey money is money.

Best Buy doesn't openly advertise this...but as long as they carry the item in the store and it is factory sealed they will return anything at the current selling price of the item. So theoretically, not that I haven done this before , but you could by stuff that they have a great sale on and return it the following week when the prices go back up and come out ahead.

Now keep in mind every one of these transactions are logged on some server somewhere and they can pull up every one of them buy your name. So if you abuse this they will eventually catch on to you.

i know. this actually was the first time i pulled it off. and i don't see any problems occuring because of it. another thing, she didn't ask for my name or tel. number, so i believe i got away with the first one being a freebie if you know what i mean.

Yeah you definately lucked out I think. Ususally they always get your personal info so someone can't abuse the system. By the way which Best Buy did you go to because if they do that all the time I would have to take advantage of that more often!

"Short Pump" Bestbuy. That is freaking hilarious. Is that intentional? Sounds more like you scored the big pump.

The last three times I returned stuff to Best Buy I didn't have receipts and they never asked for ID. They wouldn't have been able to track me...
