Question So... what's your profile name mean? And Who the heck are you?

so, at the bare minimum, we're all blu-ray supporters. but more than that, albeit through an impersonal computer, we interact with one another daily. on the other side of each post is a real person (i hope). without getting too deep...who are you? but before that, what's your profile name mean?

reduxinflux - redux: brought back, resurgent
influx: an inflow

though gramatically, it should be influxredux to mean a secondary or resurgent inflow of something, i flipped it. so instead, it's a redux influx (if you will) - meaning: the pouring in of a resurgence (or the resurgence of new life). it's spirtual in nature. and that's that.

now...about myself briefly

name: Brian
age: 27
from: Orange County, Southern California

favorite music artists: thrice, chuck ragan, iron maiden, johnny cash, radiohead, ac/dc, oakenfold, queen, tom waits, darkest hour, james newton howard, clint mansell and tons more...but thats the cream of the crop for now...

movies: magnolia, 25th hour, children of men, american beauty, 3:10 to yuma, gleaming the cube, stranger than fiction, father of the bride (my token chick flick), my life, the wizard (80's nintendo movie), cloak and dagger, fight club and toooooons more. too many to list.

author: cs lewis's non-fiction.

went to school at Biola U in los angeles. majored in communications. and now i work full time pulling the graveyard shift in the warehouse of an industrial supply company where i do inventory. i'll be going back to days next year after i get married (in january to my high school sweetheart who i lost touch with for 7 years only to reconnect and fire things back up. crazy.).

probably more than you needed to know...but whatever. feel free to be way briefer than me just want to know who im hangin out with here.

Last edited by ReduxInflux; 09-21-2007 at 12:25 AM. Reason: added more movies and music. can't help it :)

My college had a 'new fancy email system' when I started going there (1994) and everyone else I knew was using first initial+middle initial+last name. I asked the guy if we had to do that and he said, "No. You can pick whatever you want." So as a joke I chose 'groovy' and it eventually grew to groovyone when I got my first public email (since groovy was taken).

Not terribly exciting, I know.

u_nick: The first thing that got me to sign up for an internet message board was the start of my anime addiction. my first and one of my favorite shows had a character named "Urashima Keitaro". So I decided my board name to be "UrashimaNick", replacing my first name with the characters'. I ended up using it on one or two more boards, and being annoying to type, most people just started calling me "UNick". I liked it, and it was easier, so I kept it.

Name: Nick
Age: 28

I'm a dork from CT. I work as IT support at a software company. I like to be on the computer, and I'd say my hobbies currently are games, anime, manga, bluray, and movies.

favorite movie of all time I would have to say is The Princess Bride. Lots of others rounding out a top ten, but I'll mention them some other tim.

Music? U2, Billy Joel, Queen, and a bunch more.

As simple as it can be - K.I.S.S.

David Adkins
Hercules, California(East Bay, San Francisco Bay Area)
Age: 45
Disabled - Motorcycle accident*s*.

Was auto mechanic for various dealerships(Cortese Oldsmobile, Richmond California - others...)

Got my first VAIO(PCG-FXA63) to try to keep my mind off the pain(head/right femur/both shoulders/both knees/misc serious roadrash to the bone).

Dialup sucked. Got Comcast.
Poor old VAIO ran out of HDD space and just didn't have the horsepower to run too many things - got VGN-A190.

Was a great machine, it too ran out of room and horsepower for many of today's games and HD videos - got VGN-AR190G - First Blu-ray enabled laptop.

I sit here or sometimes out in the back yard(weather permitting) and play games, surf(wireless) or play Blu-ray Discs - or the ripped BDs I have stored on the HDDs.

Enjoy coming here when I can to see my BD Bretheren enjoying whoop-ass video on their/our Blu-ray display devices.

Well, I have to go now and cruise the other sites I haunt and correct any HD DVD FUD that some fools like to sling - you know how it goes...

Take care friends!
David

'A Christmas Carol' by Charles Dickens is one of my favourite books. 'The Muppet Christmas Carol' is one of my favourite movies!

The Fozziwig (Fozzy Bear) character ranks alongside Kong, Lawrence and Indiana Jones as one of the silver screen greats.

So there!

I'm 6'5" (therefore big) and my initials are MF and there is no other meaning to it, though I like to act all put off when people take it to mean something else. My B-day is two days after Daisuke (Happy birthday - 1 week!). Gamer since the atari 2600 - I kicked ass at that crappy pac-man game. The PS2 dragged me into the DVD age and the PS3 happily dragged me me into High def.
Sony has put out the three best game systems ever. I also like the psp far better than the DS (my kids have the ds).

I don't deal well with BS which is why I have two warnings in 9 posts over at AVMS. I gave that place up.

What else... Canadian, late thirties, smarter than your average bear, still got all my hair.

Gvortex7 - G = Gergely(Greg) vortex = It's gonna sound corny, but it's when the Event Horizon ship bends space to do its interdimensional space travel, it creates a vortex around it, and looks badass. And last but not least, 7 = my favorite number (although I don't gamble or play lottery, so it's meaningless)

Name: Gergely (just call me Greg)
Age: 29
Location: Was born and raised in Budapest, Hungary but have lived in Hollywood, Florida in the U.S for the last 14 years.

After working for Best Buy Services for the last 8 year, I was laid off recently due to the closure of the service center here in Florida. I could have continued on with the company, but was not about to work at one of the stores. Hell no! I did get a lot of perks with the job though (employee discount), so that's how I got started with my home theater.

Anyway, now that I'm experiencing downtime, it is the perfect opportunity to get some more schooling.

My music is mainly in two groups:
1. all that is metal - thrash, death, black, doom, grindcore, etc.
2. everything else - mainly drum n' bass, techno, break beats, trip hop, and anything that's electronic, also some rock and a few alternatives as well.
(ex: depeche mode, the cure, the cult, jane's addiction, alice in chains, duran duran, prodigy, chemical brothers, massive attack, tricky, bjork, goldie, grooverider, adam f, photek, morcheeba, skye, inxs, seal, dieselboy, dara, ak1200, too many to list. )

I am an avid collector of music and movies, maybe not as extreme as some other people here, but pretty massive nonetheless.

I got about 800 cd's, 750 dvd's and about a dozen Blu-rays. I'm just waiting for the Blu-ray's prices to go down before I really take a plunge.
I also used to have about 1200 vhs tapes and about 70 laserdisc before I ended up trading them away.
I also enjoy video games from time to time, but not as much as movies or music. Although in recent months I've regained some of my enthusiasm for playng and of course beating some really tough games. I'll be getting a PS3 probably early next year.

Cool

Zombieking ----because I love the genre. You name it- movies, books, comics. If it involves the undead or the human race being virally challenged, I'm all over it.

Hobbies -----I'm a writer in my spare time(currently working on a post-apocalyptic thriller). I obviously love watching blu-ray, reading and playing video games(I'm also currently adventuring in the bowels of Rapture!). And just like most here, I'm an A/V junkie.

Music -----Anything that kicks you in the face!! Current faves--Slipknot(new album?), Killswitch Engage, Bullet For My Valentine

Name: Blaine
Age: 35
Married with 2 kids----2 yr old son and 2 month old daughter

My real job consists of running a robotic tig welder in a steel manufacturing plant. While this may sound cool its very monotonous, and I work shift, but the money is pretty good (good enough to support the family and my blu buying habits!!!) so I try to take it all in stride.
