Default NetFlix to file bankruptcy?

http://www.nxtbook.com/nxtbooks/ques...0907/index.php

that should take you to page 8 of this weeks Nielsen/VideoScan booklet where it says Wallstreet Analysts expect them to file bankruptcy..

this is no good....Blockbuster loses it's strongest competitor in regards to prices...

Well that would suck, I dont feel like joining blockbuster and adding my ridiculously long que list to it lol. All well, in the long run I'm sure I would have joined Blockbuster sooner or later.

Now that would be a very very good thing to happen, especially since in my eyes its still the best Blu-ray player out, it would rocket sales again for ps3 this holiday, all around excellent news.

Unfortunatly they can still rent theirs from Blockbuster online just not in stores(excluding the 250 or whatever).

For now that is.......I think Blockbuster would make a bigger impact if they straight up dropped hd dvd all together.

The headline is confusing. MOVIE GALLERY is going to file bankruptcy, Netflix's stock was upgraded

Exactly...netflix stock went up...but they did say that blockbuster will likely get 90% of the consumers from those stores

Default MOVIE GALLERY to declare bankruptcy

Uh, try reading the article again, with comprehension skills:

"We expect Movie Gallery <the cheap #3 brick-and-mortar chain, just behind Hollywood Video> to declare bankruptcy before year-end, with decreased marketing from Blockbuster...
We have a greater degree of confidence in Netflix's ability to grow in the event that Gallery begins to aggressively close stores."

(Translation: Netflix not only survives, but puts itself in prime oppoturnity to steal more willing victims away from the Big Blue Bungler--
Misinformed forehead-slapper of header goof corrected.)

While in the spirit of talking about things going bankrupt and such, in my area every chart hits video is closing due to people mainly ordering their movies online now. Goes to show you how fast the world can change I guess.

wow...thanks..

I skimmed it...and as I said I never even heard of movie gallery....

I saw Netflix and assumed movie gallery was some form of a "catchy" headline that the editor was trying to use...

Oh man, I was sweating bullets until I read the article. Gallery is the one that's gone. I switched from Netflix to Blockbuster for 'Total Access', but I think that'll only last as long as Netflix is around... so when people ask me how I like total access, I'm tempted to say "it sucks - get Netflix instead." Not that Netflix is bad (in fact they were great when I used them), I just like the in-store option better.

From the article: "... a Gallery bankruptcy will likely result in the closure of 1,000 video stores (mostly Hollywood Video)..."

decrease in competition is never good as it usually leads to a monopoly atmosphere where they can charge whatever the eff they want. I am not suprised though, the movie gallery around me sucks. NO high-def movies, and small gaming section. They are good for new releases, but thats about it.
