Default What makes it all worth it...

A couple of nights ago, I had put Casino Royale in. I grabbed a brew and thought I would watch it peacefully. Well before the black and white opening was even complete, I had knocks on my door. About 4 people walked in, grabbed a beer and sat down to watch.

It was the first time, I ever heard someone (other than myself) say, "damn, that is pristine! I love the picture quality, incredible, etc etc."

It was such a good feeling to know that even though I have an empty wallet, I can share my movie experience with others! It also gave me the opportunity to explain the blu experience. I dont know if these people will ever buy a player (maybe the will when the prices drop) but at least they have become aware and will tell others about it!

I know exactly what you mean, and Casino Royale is a good choice for convincing those HD skeptics. My roommate and I have people over all the time and it never fails to impress.

i have had reactions go both ways. i had people over to watch casino royale and another movie, they were all blown away. then more recently i had potc 1 playing while we had my friend's son's pirate themed 1st bday party at our place, one of my friends said they were unimpressed and a few other agreed. i just about hit the floor, and them. i wish i had a demo disc to show the difference or even a second player and a dvd copy of potc 1 so i could rub their faces in their own ignorance. man my friends suck sometimes. but even they like to ask me when the next movie night is. i think they just refuse to admit they see the difference.

I wouldn't take it personally man, my dad still says he can't see the difference between VHS and DVD...

What does it for me, when people see BD playback on this laptop and say "It looks like you are actually there!".

Or, when I connect this laptop to a friend's big new killer HDTV via HDMI and let fly with a Blu-ray disc... that dumbfounded look on their face(s) is priceless!

My dad didn't understand what the big deal was, so I put Ghostrider in my dvd player and let him watch the first fight scene. Then I showed him the same scene on Blu-Ray, and he was blown away.

Your player will probably do a dual output to another SD TV. I know my Sony S300 does. Put the tv's side by side. If they can't see the difference, they either can't or do not want to.

Remember, some people out of jealousy will bad mouth what you have. Others are just sociopathic jack offs.
