Default China once again setting a new low for technology

see this :
http://www.cdrinfo.com/Sections/News...x?NewsId=21344
this is just an example of what you can find anywhere on internet

these will most likely be compatible with HD DVD
I fear cheap (and low quality) HD DVD players will flood the market
We have to inform lots of people to avoid these low quality products, and hopefully this "choice" of develoment will put the nail in HD DVD's coffin, as everibody will see that these HD DVD players show no difference to standard DVDs (Chinese DVD technology is quite old)

your thoughts?

No matter what happens in China. Just know that it will be an impact because that is a huge number of potential comsumers.

Okay I read the article. They are not making HD-DUD players. Thay are creating their own format based on HD-DuD, and calling it CH-DuD. There is no indication whether or not it will even be compatible. Which I would highly doubt at this point. So fear not troopers. This is just a meaningless blip on the Blu-dar.

China lives in its own world. They hate Japan. The hatred goes back to before WW2. China doesn't want to be "slaves" to Japanese technology. This is how China thinks. (odd but true)

So they developed their own standard of HD, called CH-DVD. They have done this stuff before with other formats. Nobody on the Blu side really has to worry about this development. Its not exactly a "Win" for hddvd either, the best that could come out is cheaper hddvd players in the future. Some China CE's have already announced future BD players.

China likes being China, and doing things in China.

This has little bearing on the format war.

Aside from CH-DVD... I keep telling myself that "cheap" HD-DVD players will not have a huge impact on Blu-Ray. Consumers who can't afford a $400 Blu-Ray player are still going to buy Standard DVDs... and most likely can't afford a HDTV.

yeah this is purely for the chinese market. So basically all this would do is eliminate china from the hddvd/bluray war since they decided to go with their own seperate format.

What I found funny is how they talked about hd-dvd being so safe from piracy. Considering how rampant piracy and knock-offs are in china, maybe thats why they went with an hd-dvd based format hahahahahahahahahaha
