Will probably pick this one up - depending on the PQ reviews. Definitely one of Hugh Grant's better films and the supporting cast (Toni Collette, Rachel Weisz and Nicholas Hoult) are also very good. Not your usual romcom because of some of the darker themes covered (depression, suicide).

I love the soundtrack to this movie. I was surprised to see this, this was one I wasn't sure would get a BD release or not. Glad to see it is!

Can anyone confirm which studio will be releasing this title? I'm hoping it'll be region free since there's no news of a U.S. release.

Thanks!

It is being released by Universal, so you can pretty much guarantee it will be region free.

Hopefully all the extras are ported over. Their UK releases have been pretty bad about that lately.

Daylight and Liar Liar are two recently released examples. And yet they were released on the same day along with Shakespeare In Love and Notting Hill, which both got extras. Universal are quite inconsistent and hit-and-miss with their catalogs.

But even Notting Hill left off the audio commentary and trailer. Also recent releases like Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison were bare bones. I don't understand why they do this. It's not like Universal is unable to secure the rights to their own supplements.

Are you sure Universal is releasing this title in the UK?

Amazon lists this as the studio releasing it: Cinram Logistics (Swindon)

I know they get a lot of bad/incorrect info, but I also know some titles do end up getting released by the smaller companies and that those titles are usually less likely to be region free and NOT have PAL special features.

Thanks.

The info is indeed incorrect. Universal are releasing it.

I love this film, but it was a kind of ugly-looking film anyway. It's one of the few movies where I clearly remember noticing how dreadful the lighting was in many scenes. I think they must have had to compensate for bad weather/overcast skies in the UK by changing the contrast, brightness, etc, throughout.

I thought of picking this up, but if there are no extras, as with THE INTERPRETER as well, I'll pass.

can confirm no extras, I picked up the Australian disc which is the same disc.

Video quality is a modest upgrade over dvd, sound is a reasonable upgrade too.

Ugh. I'm assuming a BD-25. That sucks. No reason NOT to include the extras.

Luckerly I have no interest or time for extra's so I'll be picking this up at some point soon.
The price will most likely drop very quickly after it's released like with most of the Universal catalogue titles.
