Thumbs up 2007 Blockbusters Needed on BD this Holiday Season ("Transformers Crushers List")

well that was quite the title....Ok here is my short list of recent 2007 blockbusters that need to be EXCLUSIVELY on BLURAY, this is not for the movies making $20-$30MM...I am talking about the $50-$500MM box office revenues! These are the titles that can compete with HDDVD Exclusives such as Transformers and Shrek 3

Please add to the list when you reply. Do No Include Already announced and dated BLURAYs like DIE HARD/LFODH, Cars, Fantastic Four..etc - Only Unnounced/Undated Potential BLURAY EXCLUSIVES that were a 2007 blockbuster. We will call this list, the TRANSFORMERS CRUSHER LIST!

Transformers Crushers List:
1- The Simpsons Movie
2- Borat

Disclaimer on Borat: It was disgusting, Offensive, and REALLY FUNNY! This movie paired with a Simpson's movie released by Fox Exclusively on Bluray will definitely help crush HDDVD's holiday's numbers.

Here is a full list of the top 150 grossing movies at the box office World Wide (Newsflash: POTC 1, 2, and 3 EACH did better than Transformers with almost $1 Billion world wide revenues each).

Ok here is an accurate list from IMDB's website, they have the top 500 movies, but I think the Top 150 will suffice for us....I am gonna post this in the first post as well.

These aren't Bluray exclusives, but I guess we can count them since they wil help with the overall sales this holiday season, if they are released in time.

Sony should release some titles from their own library (which of course will be BD exclusive). Off the top of my head, I would like to see:

Ghostbusters 1 & 2
Taxi Driver
Bad Boys 1 & 2
Charlie's Angels 1 & 2
Karate Kid 1 - 3
Starship Troopers
Godzilla (1998)
Fright Night
Krull
Night Of The Living Dead (1990)

Jurassic Park is a Universal release, so who knows...I doubt it will ever make it to HD format until winner is announced!

So far the titles mentioned in the last 2-3 posts are neither a recent 2007 Blockbuster and/or are not BD Exclusives...but who cares, lets just add to the list of most wanted movies and TV shows!

Any Disney Classic, and all the past Pixar Movies like Toy Story, The Incredibles, and Monsters Inc. The BDA needs to send Lucas a check to get the Star Wars Saga on Blu-Ray. Then maybe Lucas will let Fox release it.

Play.com is listing season 1 of the original Star Trek series on HD-DVD!!! Now, it's not a set I'd want to buy but it is another big hitter following Transformers, Heroes and the Matrix Trilogy.

In the run up to Christmas, HD-DVD's list of big titles isn't looking too shabby. Damn them!!

Why do Warner take so long to release the blu-ray version of their movies?? If every HD-DVD title were also out on blu-ray things would look a lot better.

I believe the ones in your 'announced' list are already the Transformers crushers. I loved Transformers and know it will sell well on HD DVD, but they just don't have the install base that Blu-ray has so any of the those big blockbusters from this year will sell more than T on HD DVD.

I second that. If that's what we're calling blockbusters these days, movies are in a sad place.

The movie was entertaining, but I wouldn't watch it more than once. Loses it's charm after that.

I haven't seen the Simpsons.

Call me stupid, but I don't think re-packaging old TV shows, like Star Trek, is a big deal. I'm looking at mass market appeal. I would think LOST and other more recent shows have more pull.

A Star Wars release would be amazing. Now, that has mass market appeal.

Haven't you seen the reaction positive reaction about Clash Of The Titans on BD? These movies are of the same genre, so I'm sure Krull will have its fans on BD.

Not everyone likes every movie you like.

Borat made $128 million in the U.S., so yes, it was a blockbuster.

I don't think it's what we need in the war against HD, but I have to give the guy from Kazakhstan some credit.

I think you are right. I doubt Star Trek will even sell half as well as HEROs did and it looks like it is already starting to tank in its second week.

I don't know that it's a big deal to just repackage them, but I believe these ARE the remastered versions with newly rerecorded scores and all the SFX redone with computers in HD, so it's VERY different from any previous release of this show...

That being said I'm not paying $125 a season for it! I'll wait for a) it to be on BD and b) someone to sell it to me used at half price.
