Default Monamour (Tinto Brass)

Monamour Blu-ray

Monamour Blu-ray Review

Tinto Brass' Monamour (2006) has received a preliminary release date: April 19th. Courtesy of Cult Epics.

Synopsis:
Quote:
Tinto Brass' latest Monamour is the love-story of a Venetian girl and a Frenchman in the beautiful city of Mantua. Dario, her husband is too busy to notice his wives sexual drifting, when her adultery "born out of neglect and frustration" starts on the day she meets a tall dark stranger in a museum. An intoxicating mix of lies, betrayal and fantasy follows Marta into her personal diary where every emotion and passion is recorded. Starring Anna Jimskaia and Max Parodi (Cheeky!), along a line of stars of Tinto's previous erotic films. In new high-definition, "ass" never looked better before!

Anna Jimskaia will hopefully look amazing in HD. Do you think we'll see more Tinto stuff in Europe Pro-B?

Yes Apparently, there is a newly restored print of Paprika in circulation. I would be surprised if it isn't released on Blu-ray.

Now that we have Luchino Visconti's Senso out, someone should also release Mr. Brass' version, Senso '45.

McCrutchy, you should look at some of Mr. Brass' early films. They fall somewhere between total Euro-psychedelia and film noir (a mix of Alain Robbe-Grillet and Marco Ferreri).

For example, the great Jean-Louis Trintignant (The Conformist, A Man and A Woman) is in Col cuore in gola:

I will Netflix it, I greatly enjoyed Mr. Trintignant in The Conformist.

Well, amazon has it with "no image available." I wonder if that means they'll give Salon Kitty another chance?

Amazon removed Salon Kitty because the cover got complaints, and that's the only reason. There are a number of extremely explicit titles still readily available--many much more explicit than Salon Kitty--but because customers have not complained about these titles, they remain available. In fact, if some sources are to be believed, Amazon is now directly selling a few hardcore pornographic titles, whether they realize it or not, but again, these items do not get customer complaints, likely because their covers are "less 'offensive'" than the Salon Kitty cover was perceived to be.

Cult Epics's Monamour DVD cover is, in my opinion, even less "offensive" than the Salon Kitty one from Blue Underground, if only because the title is helpfully obscuring any "problem areas". If Cult Epics use this cover for their Blu-ray edition, which I would think they would, then I don't see why Amazon would choose not to stock it, since the pre-order is still available. Salon Kitty, on the other hand, is a different matter...notice that only the original DVD and VHS are currently listed on Amazon.

The fact that there are people who complain about having a male/female behind on the cover of a Blu-ray/DVD is pretty sad. Would you censor the hundreds of books about Greek history or Renaissance art, or the Taschen contemporary series, that Amazon sells? Granted Salon Kitty does not fall into either of the two categories, I cannot possibly imagine how the cover was in any way offensive.

Extremely sad censorship.

This will be out next week.

It seems this release will be two discs:

Quote:
Disc 2 includes the bonus film, Kick the Cock. "Kick the Cock" is an old Dutch saying; meaning "Peek in the Kitchen," or something shocking and extreme, exactly what we can expect of Tinto Brass; the director and co-star, along with newcomer Angelita Franco.
Kick the Cock premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 2008, and won "Best short film" at a Fetish Film Festival in Germany in 2009 and is now presented for the first time as a worldwide premiere on DVD and Blu-ray.

Special features include:
-New High-definition Master
-The Making of "Monamour" -The Making of "Kick the Cock"
-Comic strip by Franco Saudelli
-Venice Film Festival Premiere with Tinto Brass (Circuito Off 2008, Media Group TV)
-Spanish Dance by Angelita Franco -Trailers

Well, at least its not delayed "indefinitely" like The Lickerish Quartet. Man, Cult Epics really need to get their act together though. Score was a nice release, but its been two delayed releases since, and its a bit off-putting. It reminds me of the whole Davis-Panzer Highlander fiasco, with the never-ending release date delays. I mean really, they wait until the actual release date to push it back 3 months... its not like the release just suddenly fell through at the stroke of midnight is it?

Lickerish Quartet is imminent. I've got a review copy in the mail to me now. Mondo Digital already has a review of the new disc up.

Wonder why?

Scenes are practically recycled 1:1 from other movies like the row boat scene from cheeky!

Maybe the artwork has typos like my new copy of Alice in Wonderland 1976 (runtime: 00 minutes ) and it'll take a few months to fix it

I was just wondering if there has been any update on Lickerish Quartet? Everywhere seems to have review copies in hand/already reviewed, yet its been a couple of weeks, and still no date. My Amazon pre-order continues to just sit with a "we'll notify you" message...

LOL, right after I posted, Amazon updated their arrival date of it to May 10th. Isn't that just the way it works...
