I hope this edition will include both the theatricals and the extended versions, that would be awesome

But technically they should be able to include both versions, if they can include the extended version of one movie on one disc they must be able to exclude the extended scenes when you select the theatrical cut. Just like the Avatar Extended Collectors edition which includes three versions of the movie on one disc.

I can hold off on the Star Wars and inevitable Harry Potter boxes until the price drops, but LOTR will be day one for sure

I was thinking about buying the box with the theatrical's regardless of whether this was to be released or not. I reckon I'll hold out now and just go for this one.

I'd still like to have both versions for completions sake though. If these have both the TC set seems like abit of a waste of time apart from the great price. Has anyone watched the theatrical cuts after buying the EE's?

Once the EE's get released I reckon they'll be giving the theatrical boxsets away (not that they're a bad price now mind), but still think they'll go down to the £10 mark. Even in HMV Trostre... Then again maybe not down there.

This is good news, but why can't they put the extra stuff on Blu-ray discs, instead of DVD's , this makes no sense. What the hell is the point . Unless they are just going to use the same dics for the extras as was included with the DVD set. I do not want 10+disc's, this was one of the selling points of the format. That disc numbers would be reduced. There is always something .

I didn't spot them Friday when I was there, they were £70 before that. I did pick some three quid DVD bargains though. But the 2 for 20 Blu-Ray still seems expensive. Now 3 for 20 would be a result!

Last time I was down there they were £70. I nearly fell through the floor, even when they were £18 on their own website. I've got a couple of days off work, I might go down for a browse a little later on. Once I'm dressed that is.

3 for 20 would be fantastic!

If you spot any bargains report back....

On the LOTR thing I wonder if we'll have separate releases? As these boxsets are expensive. The theatrical were released separately the same day as the set the only difference was the big box they came in. Hopefully we'll get the MTV Awards easter eggs this time round as well.

While it would be possible for them to fit both the theatrical and extended on the same disc via seamless branching, I highly doubt they will. I think they will milk the individual releases for as long as possible.

It's a lot better than the 2 for £25 it replaced...

That was better than the 2 for 30 lol. I remember in the early days when DVD's had the same offer I was in the Swansea branch and some guy went to the till with a stack of DVD's cupping them from his knees to the top of his chin. He was like a kid in a candy strore....

Are these Costa Botes documentaries any good? I know he was a big help to Peter Jackson in getting the films made in the first place.

I knew waiting would pay off. I'm doing the same thing with TLoTR as I'm doing with The Star Wars Saga. That is, going directly from VHS to Blu. No DVDs in between, despite all the temptations.
