Default What are some good long running TV shows ?

Not comedies though as they generally are not something I like.

Shows I really like.

Lost
Dexter
Fringe
Mad Men ( just finished season 4 today, awesome)
True Blood
The Wire
Spartacus: Blood and sand and the Prequel

I want shows longer than 2 seasons.

And before somebody says it, Yes I have seen Battlestar Galactica

For long running shows I would go with

Smallville- 10 seasons
Dawson's Creek (if you like dramas)- 6 seasons
Supernatural- 6 seasons and still going
The X-Files- 9 seasons
The Shield- 7 seasons
Charmed- 8 seasons
Angel- 5 seasons

NCIS
Criminal Minds
Psych
Law & Order: SVU
Eureka
Chuck
Bones
House
Fringe
The Closer.... These all still air new episodes.

Although Psych and Chuck are also comedies! (and Eureka too, kinda)

Have seen most of those and they didn't really do it for me. X- Files was great for the first few seasons and then it fell off for me.

OZ though I have never heard of and Supernatural I haven't seen.

I love Weeds one of my favorite shows on TV. If you want something more adult I would recommended Breaking Bad but you can't go wrong with Weeds or Breaking Bad.

Weeds isn't even in the same universe as Breaking Bad. Breaking Bad is a brilliant series, and Weeds is well.........in my opinion shit, lol. I can't recommend The Shield or Supernatural enough, both are great long running series.

I just finished the third season and I love it so far. I also like some of the shows that you do (Lost, Dexter, and Fringe are my three favorite shows, and I am currently in the third season of Mad Men).

Can't believe no one has mentioned this yet: Homicide: Life on the Streets (7 Seasons)
Loved that show when it was on. It even crossed over with the L&O franchises. Loved it when Pembleton would sweat them in the box.

I second:
Supernatural
L&O: SVU (Det. Munch is from Homicide:Life on the streets Originally)
Criminal Minds

House
Bones
The Closer

There's on I'm trying to think of about Two Guys living in an apartment in Chicago. One of them was from another country. A Goat or Sheep Herder..

Trying to throw older stuff out there.

I think you are thinking of Perfect Strangers, with Balki and Cousin Larry.

Wow all those suggestions and I did not see one mention of Buffy. I would also recommend Prison Break. It started to fall off at the end but the first two seasons are brilliant IMO. Also Sliders, Alias, Everwood, Life, and Fringe are great plus many others already mentioned.
