Default Vacancy won't work!

HELP!!! I have had the strangest problem for about a month and I can't seem to get it fixed. I have a Toshiba Blue Ray. I bought the movie Vacancy and for some reason it didn't work. No problem, I returned it to BestBuy and got another one. Well, that one didn't work - my DVD says 'loading' forever and I see on the television "Vacancy" with line under it. I went ack and bought the third one and had the same problem. The DVD works fine because I am able to view other movies with no problem both Blue Ray as well as the regular DVD'S. I am ready to return it and get a fourth- but I am convinced that I can't be that unlucky to pick up a bad copy three times in a row. Is there someting I am doing wrong.....can't imagine it. But any suggesition would be good!

Thanks/

Um... Toshiba Blu-ray Player?

I think that's the problem.

Anyway, on a serious note... that's if you're actually serious about this one.

Toshiba makes HD DVD players, not Blu-ray Disc players. Sony, Panasonic, Samsung, Pioneer and more are part of the BDA (Blu-ray Disc Association). They sells Blu-ray players under these brands but not Toshiba.

This post sounds like weird. Toshiba doesn't play Blu-Ray. Toshiba plays HD DVD. You must have bought the Blu-Ray instead of the HD DVD version of Vacany. If it is even on HD DVD...

Then it may be a firmware issue. You need to connect your player to the internet and download the update if they have one.

He's cool - just a bit noobish. He really has a Samsung. Someone in another thread told him to check his firmware. Tons of fun in that other thread if you care to take a look.

In the other thread, somoene said to check the samsung site for updated firmware. I don't own a samsung so I can't guide you thru how to check your version or check the samsung site or how to upgrade it. Please post the model number and that'll be a good start.

Too bad the other one disappeared.

Anyways, here's the link the Toshiba Blu-Ray / HD DVD player again, if you want to get a kick out of it.

That site is notorious for including wrong specs. I actually came across it a few days ago and totally forgot to post it here, until now.

@pennmann

The samsung site has only firmware version 1.0 posted for the BD-P1200.

Click me to get to the firmware download site. There are instructions for CD method and a method to update it over Ethernet.

One time I stayed at this hotel and they had movies that the rooms in the movie look just like the hotel room I was staying in, and I heard loud noises all night. It was freaky, and I found this camera in the air return. And there was a rug in the bathroom that covered this trap door in the floor. Freaky. Then I watched Vacany and I really freaked out.

Definitely update the firmware on the player. Go to the manufacturer's sight for details. That should fix it. If not, take the disc back and ask to see it played in the same model at the store. If it plays see the firmware version they are using, how it is connected ect.

If it was an HDCP issue that would be with the cabling. It is another possibility. If using HDMI cables use component cables(provided you don't have to pay for them) and see if it resolves the issue. If it does then get some new HDMI cables.
