Default Netflix: unavailale?

I'm new to streaming via Netflix, and thus far have enjoyed it a great deal without much trouble, however I was just curious, this evening Netflix is unavailable to stream? Is this common? Has anyone else experienced 'outages' of their streaming capability?

My free month trial is coming to an end, and I am thinking about renewing, but was just curious how often things like this happen?

Go to "Netflix.com" and it tells you they are "down" right now.... This is the first time I've seen an outage first-hand in the 4 or 5 years I've used them (not to say it hasn't happened before) Even their website is down.

Thanks for the reply, Beta Man. Wow, I do see that. Good to know that in your use, this is the first time it has happened. I was debating not renewing if this is a frequent occurrence.

Hmmm...looks like I picked the perfect evening to switch out my modem and wireless router with Comcast Down to basic cable and internet. So hopefully I can get through some of the things in my Netflix que now that I don't have a dvr to distract me

It's back up--
Now they'll probably send a free rental, for "Sorry you couldn't use our service for six hours! ", but don't know how that's going to benefit the streaming-only folks.

I received an email from Netflix this morning regarding when the service was unavailable. They provided me a link to credit my account 3% of my monthly fee on my next billing cycle. Better than nothing, I suppose!

Too bad that a 3% credit isn't even a quarter. I currently have the streaming only option for $7.99.

Despite the 'financial gain' I actually just thought it was a nice gesture. I am pretty new to Netflix, and I appreciate the customer service, even though it only amounted to about 24 cents.

Wow, really?!?!? What they sent me was about half of my monthly bill. I thought this was pretty good customer service. Hell, Comcast doesn't do that when the cable goes out

They certainly don't, and Charter doesn't either!

It could be they only sent me 3% or whatever, because I am actually not a paying customer yet, I am still in the midst of my free Netflix trial. Pretty good customer service though considering I am not even a paying customer yet.

Too bad, I am hooked now. Both my fiancee and I have really enjoyed it. It's been fun watching a lot of TV shows, and many foreign films as well, especially for soooo cheap.
