Interesting movie preview. I wonder how it will go down to audiences. I have no idea what to expect.

Just put on your Beatles CDs, it's a lot cheaper

If it were a musical ABOUT the Beatles that happened to have a few songs like Sgt. Pepper, that would be one thing

This is simply yet another "feed on nostalgia" crapfest where they shoehorn in as many popular songs as possible, just like ABBA, Queen, Billy Joel, and I'm sure The Wiggles in 20 years

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/across_the_universe/

Over half the critics have hated it, a number likely to go up because the stuff between the music videos is crap. I'm sure it'll do $50 million+ anyway for the boomers that can't stay away.

Considering that P-M seems to be associated with it in some capacity, perhaps we should be more restrained in our comments?

Its a Julie Taymor movie, ya don't like her others ones don't expect to like this one. Although I am sure it will look amazing on BD because of the music and all the crazy colors.

And Queen did their show, Billy Joel did his, and ABBA probably did theirs. It doesn't change the fact that both are terrible

The reviews point to it being just another in a long line of cash-ins

im no boomer, 18 here. i have never listened to reviewers for any movie. Most of the "excellent" ones in terms of reviews are extremely boring for me. i find that if the reviews are in 60-80's then it'll be enjoyable.

Just saw this a few hours ago... Figured I'd post here instead of creating a new thread (even though it deserves one!).

Definitely my favorite movie of the year -- Transformers be damned. I want this on BR tomorrow -- It looked amazing at a new all digital theater that was built less than a year ago. Sounded fantastic too.

It was incredible... This is one of those movies where I feel I can safely say that any reviewer that says it's a bad movie is just a moron -- it's so well done in everything it attempts that it has to be respected (a person may not like it, but you've got to be an idiot not to understand it's well done).

Both my girlfriend and myself were floored by it. The only complaint I have is that only 2-3 theaters seem to have it in the metro area of Minnesota.

yes, i still want to see it but there is only one theater near me that plays it and its still to far away. Sony did a horrible job of a) promoting it. and b) releasing it to theatres. they better make up for lack of show times by putting it on Blu-ray.

i would hope the P Man is big enough to take a few criticisms along the way, hes not likely to get the admin to close the thread and delete all traces like other insiders might try on other forums

It is at 7.5 on the IMDb so it appears to be appreciated by audiences

That is also with 6.1% of people giving it a 1. It shows 44.4% voted 10 with just over 60% voting either 9 or 10.

It also looks like it is holding well, with $2 million last weekend and an estimated $1.75 million this weekend (theater count went up less than 10%). Next weekend it will go wider with the theater count scheduled to almost double to about 700 (according to boxofficemojo.com).
