Default BD catalog vs. HD DVD catalog

We can let this thread die...I'm looking forward to the future.

This may just be that grass is always greener on the other side, but I feel that they have some advantages in their catalog right now.

The Bourne Series
V for Vendetta
Batman Begins
Heroes
Transformers
The Ultimate Matrix collection
Shaun of the Dead
Pitch Black
The Chronicles of Riddick
12 Monkeys
The Jack Ryan Collection
Luck Number Slevin
The Good Shepherd
The Rundown
Children of Men

Universal has some heavy hitters....and it seems because of the interactivity thing BD's heavy hitters are waiting on the sidelines. It seems the Buy-a-thon MAY(emphasis on MAY, cause we don't know yet) have backfired and I'm hating the momentum that HD DVD has right now and would really love to stick it to them with a huge release or something...maybe they think the same thing about us.

I'm well aware that as early adopters we should be prepared for thing's like this...it's just that I'm a worry wart at the core so I need to vent and see what others have to say. I know a few of these titles are coming to BD soon or eventually, but do we have to wait until HD DVD dies before Universal and Paramount come over to the BD side? When might we expect some huge Warner or Fox exclusives? I apologize in advance if my worrying annoys people...it's just my nature .
why not forget about what they may have at the present time and focus on what we have... grass is always greener right?

what about:

cars
ratattolie or however the f you spell it
superbad
pirates 3
spiderman 3
28 days and weeks later

if you focus on what you don't have, you'll never appreciate what you do.

I get the feeling we wont have to wait to long for Universal to go either neutral or Blu-Ray exclusive because they hate Paramount and the contract is almost over with for Universal and because of Paramount we might get some Universal by beginning of next year or maybe even for christmas so no worries about that

Did anybody else hear that? It sounded like somebody jumping ship...
Bourne Tri, and Transformers. That is all that HD DVD has. The Matrix, V, and Batman are all Warner so yes they may be in HD DVD catalogue right now, but they may very well be coming to blu very soon. Grisle please don't forget that between Sony, Buena Vista, and 20th Century Fox, blu has a much bigger exclusive catalogue.

Remember that Fox has the rights to Star Wars...I am pretty sure that would CRUSH any exclusive on HD DVD.

What momentum? Paramount? Sure that was big news, but hardly Earth shaking, it hasn't helped HD DVD or Paramount the way it was planned.

On Sep 18th, I don't know about you, but I picked up some really good blu titles. I fail to see how that backfired when it worked out well for me and anybody else who purchased some movies that day.

I agree with you that HD DVD has some really good titles that I would love to see on Blu Ray, but we have good releases coming too and I'm surprised that with all those titles HD DVD isn't doing better. If all of those same titles were on Blu Ray too this format war would be over!!!

No, he was talking about the rise of HD discs in relation to the BD buyathon. It seems their numbers spiked higher and thus the blu-ray buyathon gave HD a big momentum in sales.

The grass is always greener on the other side:

If the grass is greener on the other side, then the guy with the greener grass doesn't think your grass is greener now does he? The message that this proverb is trying to stumble through is that everything always looks more attractive when you don't have it. I'm sure there are millionaires crying themselves to sleep every night because they don't live in a trailer park. Just face it: sometimes nobody envies you. There has to be a bottom and that bottom is probably you HD DVD.

Quoted for truth. It worked out great for me to but not the bank balance.

@ Grisle: Seriously I support BD but come on, don't be such a bad sport. Continue to support your format and let the BDA worry about how they will win the war. That's what they get paid to do. If your going to have sleepless nights over exclusive titles sell your HD stuff, get yourself a HDMI upscaling DVD player and come back in two years. Stop bloody whinning

Historically, Amazon has been a very bad predictor of Nielsen's i.e. there have been many weeks where Amazon would seem to predict a much higher HD DVD % than what Nielsen ultimately shows. B&M sales favor Blu-ray and are a much bigger component of the actuals than Amazon.

Bottom line: I wouldn't worry much about Amazon rankings.

No... I think the song was "Stand by your abusive, drunk, retarded, beer belly, trashy husband" which is probably the general image of those who shop at walmart and will probably buy HD-DVD to play on his upscaling DVD player on his emerson 480p "HiDef" flat screen... "DAMMMIT JILL, HOW COME THIS DANG GONE THANG DON'T NO WORK?"

I fail to see how I'm being a bad sport. I'm just voicing some concern over the current catalog choices. I don't see what selling my shite would do for me...I love HD and more importantly I love Blu-ray. I don't consider it whining...opening a conversation with people who know more than I do about BD's current situation. All I'm saying is I find myself purchasing more movies because of Blu-ray and I'm realizing the titles I really want are not yet available. It will be interesting to see what happens during Christmas and the beginning of next year. You should lighten up Kabraal...I'm just putting my thoughts out there.

This is what I'm looking for. We can only hope Universal wants to give BD a shot.

First point on Gremal's excellent post for early adopters: Product doesn't always materialize when you'd like it to. Recommended reading. https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...early+adopters

What made you decide to buy Blu-Ray in the first place?
